<div class="IPBDescription">any ideas?</div>everyone likes hanging around the ready room when they are excited before a game, or doing a big victory lap as an egg after an intense game <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
There are already some funny animations on some of the models - so why not ad a few more fun things to do?

i still want to see those onos' that spit gorges.. watching those cute pudgy things flying across the room
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
why not do it to marines aswell
What about lerks and jp's being able to fly people around like in those plug ins.
eggs rolling around rather than sliding. ( you could even have an egg raceway )
you couldn't really abuse these as the player could just hit F4 to respawn in the RR again or just join the game if they've had enough.

the rave rooms were pretty funny, maybe they could animate the units so they could "bust a move" or do some crappy dance moves - but only in the raveroom. it would be crap if they could do them ingame.
i also liked the secret room that had the glowing pentagram/star of david thingy and low gravity... but that was removed ages ago, cant remember which map it was on.
apart from that, maybe have 2 or 4 gokarts and a tiny circuit, or table tennis or pogo sticks... or an inflatable jumping castle or minigolf? (i wanna whack a gorgy with a putter) - all only in secret rooms.
How about some arcade cabinets, or some computers that are running browsers so we can surf the net? Heck why bother even making NS2 when we can put all this fun stuff in the readyroom?

im sure you've heard of WoW ? its got plenty of emotes and interesting social things that can be done for character interation.
The ready room is not only a room for getting ready for another match, but its a way to strengthen the community.

World of Warcraft actually isn't a first person shooter. I'm sure you've heard of Counterstrike, Day of Defeat, Unreal Tournament, Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Doom 3, Quake IV, Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142, Operation: Flashpoint, Armed Assault, Rainbow 6: Rogue Spear, Rainbow 6: Raven Shield, Rainbow 6: Vegas, Ghost Recon, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, The Specialists, Red Orchestra, Far Cry, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, Painkiller, SWAT 4, Tron 2.0, XIII, and others? None of those have silly little games to distract people in multiplayer matches. Not to mention the devs have much better things to do than code Tetris over again.

sigh :S
Yes ive heard and played all of those - and guess which one is making the most money? WoW, i would bet by a long shot.
Its got nothing to do with whether its a FPS or not. Games that have more social interaction will be more popular.
Whether you like it or not, there ALREADY are things like that in ns1. listed in the posts above.
If you have a NS intro video playing in a corner out of the way and quiet, and maybe one other side game--that's it. You want people to play NS, not hang out in the ready room playing gorgeCart2008 on the 7 course circuit.

i've noticed that a lot of players will play a few games, then when they have had enough, just sit in the ready room socializing, where they can talk to their friends with their Mics, instead of being split on seperate teams and being forced to talk with text. especially late at night when everyone has been playing games for ages - theres 6 ppl left, all of them in the readyroom talking, and no one is prepared to start a game.
at least this way they can still talk to their friends, but do it while buzzing around crashing gorgykarts and doing burnouts. or having a civilized conversation over a game of minigolf. it wont pull players away from playing the actual game, just make the readyroom more enjoyable for the people taking a break from the actual game.
There's nothing more annoying in NS than joining a server with a few people in it expecting to start a game and then having them all sit in the ready room. I feel like this would further increase that situation.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
easily fixed with a few variable controls
if players = # then fun games = off
I like the uber ready room idea, but just dont make it over the top.

Haha, yeah, RR are fun but are supposed to be READY rooms. I like the idea of gorgeCart2008 tho <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Yay for GorgeCart! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pudgy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::gorge::" border="0" alt="pudgy.gif" />
Anyways, it would be fun to have stuff in the ready room for several reasons.
First of all, it would make it much more tolerable to wait for someone to join a server. Second of all....I'll think of it later, but as long as it's not spawn-camping and killing people in the RR, i'm all for it.
Making RRs more 'interactive' with pointless minigames is distracting and takes away from what you bought NS for - <b>to freaking play it.</b>
RRs are for joining the game from something other than a point and click menu. If you're bored waiting for players, how about you stop prowling around inside the RR and instead alt tab out to ###### around with solitare or what have you until someone joins?

Great Idea - lets add solitare to the list of RR games
Heh, an interactive readyroom would be more interesting for clan players waiting in the RR during a match. No more practicing bhopping <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />.

Or you could go the extra mile and make ze_marinebhop the standard readyroom for every map. God that would rock.
~edit~
--make that Texas Hold'em Poker.
I want to play poker with a fade.

lol these ppl have no lives... RR is made to b a kool element to a joingame instead of using a menu, i also sit and chat with ppl in the RR when no games are going on and practice bunny hopping, but i much pefere to have a rr which insights ppl to fight the war against marine and alien not sit around playing fatcart and smoking cigars, if u want lame as games theres heaps in windows but if u want a game that is about skill/strategy/teamwork/valor then u should get ns2 because thats what its meant to b about, if anything was to change in the RR it should have a map screen and a fireing range or somthing, so u can teach the noobs some basic training.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
well now that you've insulted everyone, and contradicted yourself your suggestion is actually quite good - a firing range/ target practice is an awesome idea for teh ready room - only problem is you can't have weapons in the RR
But you could put few of those press"use" style machine guns (easy as to make in the map editor) and have people (edit) aim down the range with those. kind of like those side show games
only problem is you can't have weapons in the RR
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
i'm sure it wouldnt be that hard to write some code allowing guns only in a firing range part of a readyroom...
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Then you are just anti-social. The RR is where all the cool people hang out to chat, either that or spectate. I can't tell you how many hours I've talked with people in the about all sorts of unrealted things: some informative, some annoying, some hilarious, some quite seriously deep, some debative, and so on...
My lastest server for socializing in the RR has been the <BAD> Clan server where I will chat and sometime argue with a guy named Clay and some of the other clan or public crowd people for ages. Pictures and other files are often shared as well as just good conversation. In fact, here is somewhat a recent idea we discussed:
In fact, I'd love it somebody streamed TV from a slingbox to a monitor panel in the RR. Actually as crazy as that sounds that is 100% possible to code. It would be buggy in the old Half-Life engine, but in Source it's completely possible for a secondary server to upload live TV to a virtual big screen in your local ready room. You can watch the big game with your buddies over the net and then go kill other in frustration or celebration.
Mini-games like the arcade ones seen in Prey are also 100% possible to code and if made multiplayer and animated, like the poker playing fade... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Yeah, but you can always tell what certain cards were based on the holes in the cards. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
Anyways, yeah, good times have been in many a ready room.
