Might be cool as long as the parts you can siege are defined like weld points. Could be a bit of a pain to set up a TF, upgrade, and lay down a seige just to close something off though.

I like the idea, it could be used in the same fashion as the External Satellite weldable entrance into Sat hive on Tanith. Rather than having a point welded and a satellite blowing the entrance into schmitterns, the siege cannon can blow the wall into schmitterns. It would force the marine team to really lock down an area would allow a hard to do and expensive weld type point.
This would be a nice addition to "the mappers arsenal" and give him more flexibility. Although I'd really hate to see it replace a welding point.

umm well of course nobody is going to seige a mere weld point, use your imagination man! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> oh wait we all play pc games cause we dont have one.
Why would anyone think that seiges close doors? they make doors baby!
Obviously you wouldnt seige something that has little importance - your spending 50ish res ( TF, UPgrade, seige turret) you would expect some nice results - something that will give you a tactical advantage. like blowing a hole in a wall to make an area or a new area more accessible.
Perhaps the aliens have knocked several heavy crates down a lift shaft or hall way, and the only way to get through is by seiging a hole in the wall to go around, or even the crates themselves.
i guess that would be up to the mappers, but it needs to implemeted by the dev team for the mappers to actually make use of it.
or even just for effects - you seige a hive and it destorys a few decorations.
i wouldnt want it to replace a weld point - it would be an addiontal option, to vary the game play <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Just have the main siege areas semi "destructable". After a couple of shots from the siege cannons, walls start to debri, concrete falls off support trusses etc. It wouldn't alter the room really, just add some destruction eye candy.
After you finally siege down a hive after an intense battle, imagine all the bullet holes\alien blood\broken walls\lights and such after securing the hive area?

Do you envision this as engine supported tools and function entities for mappers as I do?
