<div class="IPBDescription">have bots been mentioned yet?</div>Apologies if this has been suggested already....
So, I realize this is a multi-player game, but there is a substantial amount of players to enjoy the occasional bot game, and they're good to use when there's not alot of players around but you want big fights (2v2 classic, and even combat, aren't too fun).
WhichBot has been making a fairly good Alien AI, although it's still lacking in certain respects, specifically building infrastructure and situational (the locking your role on spawn is a bit annoying, Aliens can't just go gorge, drop a building (especially a Hive), and go back to fighting?).
However, there is still a lack of good Marine AI, (RCBot is getting better, still some serious exploitables) especially for Commanding, which I hear involves hacking commands and other nasty things.
Also, this could open up a potential single-player portion, whether for tutorial purposes or an actual campaign, if bot AI was created for NS2 and supported by the dev team. Maybe they won't code it themselves (although that would be awesome), but perhaps work closer with the other coders to make their lives a bit easier, or make the game with bot add-ons as a reasonable extension.

From what I can tell, NS2 is going to be enough work as is. AI is generally not something that you want to add on top of all the other stuff going into a game like this. The community, I think, can make bots sufficient, even if they're not perfect.
I agree i think community bots will come out, it's the source engine so bots can be better now.

What would make source better for bots? Doesn't more complicated engines make for more complicated AI scripting?
