It's always good to see another person escape the clutches of WoW.

I'd reccomend going outside or something instead of just looking for flash games. You could go outside, or possibly read a book. Better yet, read a book while you are outside.

I guess I'm in the minority when I say the quality of WoW was enough to make me quit of my own accord. I mean come on, at one point you're just grinding the same instances over and over to get better gear to do what? Grind some more instances over and over.

Bragging rights and pecking order within the guild are motivators for a lot of people. The pvp system is another motivatort too.

Meh, I played with a bunch of friends from the NS community. Everyone was an officer (or nobody was, I can't remember) so it wasn't like rank was a big deal. And PVP was sort of fun, but if it's a choice between the moderately entertaining WoW PVP where I can only stay competetive by doing that boring PVE, or the highly entertaining PVP I get from every other multiplayer game (for which I do not have to pay monthly) I think I know what I'll choose.

www.addictinggames.com is the site I go to lots for when I'm dreadfully bored. I also think it's important to not let yourself get cabin fever. As Xyth suggested, go outside, take a stroll when you feel the urge to WoW well up within you. Resist!

Get a girlfriend worked for me the first time round.

Second time round I became more social. In particular, pubbing it alot helps.

I played for 5 minutes..... then uninstalled it. It bored the pants off me.

And WoW is the only Mp game, aside from Half life, that actually works through my uni's firewall.

My advice is to stay off the computer as much as possible and find other activities to engage in. By playing flash games instead of WoW, what you're mostly doing is filling up your time with similar activities; it's closer to finding a "replacement" than quitting. Otherwise you're spending all the time you would have been spending playing WoW playing flash games, which isn't nescessarily an improvement.

Go down the pub for a while (gets you out of the house, but you can spend a few hours sitting down too, so it doesn't do your knee in too much), pick up a book or watch TV. Alternatively, start a new project of some description to take your mind right off it. If you avoid the computer during your WoW "peak times" you might find this all happens much faster and more smoothly.

Exercise! After the first week of jogging or weight lifting it gets pretty addictive.

Find a game you can't play more than 2 hours of. For me that's currently DoD:S.

Find your creative outlet. Writing, drawing, whatever. It helps a lot for me.

    Read.

Does it crash or something? Because that's how I used to limit my DoD:S playing. I'd get an hour or two tops before it goes BLARGH and gives up. I figured Valve was trying to tell me to do something worthwhile with my life.

It doesn't crash but after about 2h I feel like WWII will never end. I guess I probably wouldn't be a very good soldier. Then again real soldiers probably didn't run down the same street 50 times in a row.

It's funny because I just got totally bored and stopped playing one day. I don't get the point of "trying" to quit it. It's a ###### game.
