I remember you losing to eR "because" you didn't think the sieges would hit the hive. Oh, and HAMBONE claiming EU only won against USA because they got lucky. Good stuff.

Basically I lost interest in actually playing it. I played a few rounds @ 2.x and 3.x , but the ns1.04 feeling just was... gone... Yes I know 1.04 had lots of issues, but above 2.x and above are an entirely new game imho. One from which the idea allures me, but the actual gameplay drives me away <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
Also I'm a ww2 nut, so Forgotten Hope has snatched me away completely from the NS gaming part. Just waiting for NS2 and FH2 and this new zombie coop game (added to the list <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> )
Checks join date & member #. I consider myself an old schooler. After running from house to house collecting candy Halloween night I was buzzed on sugar and eagerly waiting to download. Still to this day NS personally is the greatest gaming experience I've ever had. I have moved on though and fought a great many wars in the NS universe. The later releases really turned me off though and never really got into it around the time combat mode was introduced. One of the biggest reasons I felt many of the old schoolers were turned off by the new patches was because a lot of young FPS players/ unskilled players continuously requested this and that of the mod team to make everything about NS fast and furious / or easier to play or basically cater to all the fickle complaints they had of NS. To me it felt like the NS mod team were too easily influenced by community requests so much so that by the second year the NS was a completely changed game and simply wasn't NS to us anymore. But I love NS apart from my rant, and await the release of NS2.
I came across the NS myspace page today and the theme music began playing giving me this overwhelming feeling of euphoria. A chill ran up my spine. It reminded me of the hard work the developers put into this, and I'm sure the original NS would have done well as a purchasable store title.
I don't think anyone will remember me but I use to play competitively. I think I played 3 or 4 seasons (season 2 was the first one I think). Team Animosity and Prev..something.
Albino better ###### remember me at least. Duo should as well. I recognized a lot of people I use to play with. I randomly decided to see how NS was doing and stumbled upon this thread. Weird.

I'm an oldie, back from when ns 1.0 came out =)
had one of the first servers up (Misfire's NS) and was quite popular for some time but then the server had to go <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
- turrets didn't need a TF to work - sensories didn't cloak - structures were ginormous - no protection from turret farms - GLs had 6 rounds instead of 4 - /stuck enabled you to get in strange places - ns_bast and ns_nancy weren't gimped from rebuild teams - attacks were linked to the clients framerate - Snake-Den was in it's prime - aliens could become marines with stopcommandermode - sieges didn't need scan - mine trees - rounds lasted for ~8 hours - fades had bilebomb - fade go poof in wall - gorge babblers
I joined NS in late 2002, so I remember some good 'ole days <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

But been playing on n off (mostly on) since about day 10. (Signed up for the forums late, cause I'm not much of a poster).
But "most" of the good servers are dead or dieing. Most of the servers that are up, are filled with co_maps and ppl that don't even know what the real NS is. Shame. I'm looking into the idea of starting up a server again.
ive been playing on and off since the first public release
i havent played every single release cuz i play a mod for a few months then ill switch to tfc, cs/s, and dod/s, but i always end up coming back to NS after a while because i really think it is not only a unique and original game but i think it is more interesting and more fun to play than any other hl mod.
