I just took this photo of of the inside of the cardboard box my McDonalds burger came in. It made me cringe.

  • ThansalThansal The New Scum Join Date: 2002-08-22 Member: 1215Members, Constellation
    it equals 12000
    12000^3 is 1728000000000

    1728000000000 * 10^8 = 172800000000000000000

    172800000000000000000^10 = 2.3737631379976980632895029143142e+202

    I think you are right, their math is off!

    So far none of you have picked up on it. The problem is:

    2.2 lb/kg

    kg * 2.2 = lb

    kg <b>/</b> 2. != lb

    They screwed up their kilogram to pound conversion. You'd think they'd check that.

    ahhh, see scythe forgot one major problem.

    Most of us don't know metric. And even if we do know metric, we don't really have a sense of it (I can tell you what a lb of rice looks like, but a kilo of rice? not to likely), and thus if they swap the conversion, we will not catch it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

    Now, my curiosity lies in this:
    I assume yall use metric. Why the heck are they selling you quarter pounders?

    Yah, but he lives in Australia, and they serve quarter pounders there (I looked it up).

    They also serve pasta, and deli style samiches, and something having to do with Oz (it is a burger)

    Oh, and the most awesome thing?
    The kids meals come with milk and a chocolate or strawberry flavored straw! (that is pure awesome)

    It could just be that the variable "Mmmmmm" contains some hidden constants that need to be cancelled out by dividing instead of multiplying...

    I got nothing.

    no mmmmmmmmmmmm is 12000 in roman numerals (M is 1000, and if you have the same symbol written next to itself like that then you add them)

    Not really.

    In order to avoid having to write mmmmmmmmmm for lets say the strength of a certain military unit. You simply place a bar above a number, indicating that it needs to be mulitplied by 1000.

    So 12000 would be X(with bar ontop)MM

    Edit: And then there is also the fact, that the first M on the ad is bigger than the other 11 Ms. Whatever this is supposed to indicate <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" />

    Why would you want to bother with

    <!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1-->
    _
    X MM <!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->

    when

    <!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1-->
    ___
    XII <!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->

    is just as easy?

    More importantly, M could be one variable, but then there's no real reason to repeat m 11 times, just m^11. Unless we're to assume that each of those m is part of a known expression and their mathematician was simply inexperienced, and didn't want to label each of the seperate iterations with the specific subscript. Or the people in the McDonalds advertising departments are idiots...I suppose we have a conudrum on our hands...
