Keep up the great work! Good luck.
The alpha build of the software is the build delivered to the software testers, that is persons different from the programmers, but internal to the organization or community that develops the software.
In the first phase of testing, developers generally test the software using white box techniques. Additional validation is then performed using black box or grey box techniques, by another dedicated testing team, sometimes concurrently. Moving to black box testing inside the organization is known as alpha release.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

The first public beta-keys were given to hand-picked individuals from a number of BF related forums, as well as fileplanet subscribers. The next wave of beta-keys was handed out about 2 weeks later to people that have been applied for it.
But the testing was overall a disaster and resulted in a giant crash-log collecting. I had about 20 client crashes during the first 2 weeks and the rest of the time the servers crashed at an average of every 20 minutes. The fact that even the beta was already infected by hackers and the like, because you had to simply change 3 lines of code in order to make a working bf2142 hack from a working bf2 one, did not contribute to succesfull playtesting.
As for the NS2 beta: It would be really sweet if at least the servers were stable, before engaging into a public test <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
