VHE and Windows Vista

<div class="IPBDescription">Uh-oh!</div>It seems I've hit a technical snag.
Whenever I use Windows vista to run VHE (because my laptop has it) for some reason I cannnot select -ANYTHING- in the 3D view without it crashing. I can't apply textures, I can't select specific geometry or anything. It just dies and it's starting to work on my last nerve.
Anyone else run into this or know how to solve it?
