Done with Black Lagoon, I liked it overall.

I'm considering starting Death Note next. Is it good, or is it sucks?

I've only watched the first 4 eps or so, waiting for the series to end before watching them. Manga was good though, first half at least. And yeah, black lagoon was quite good but is asking for another season ^^

There is a second season (which I haven't started it) called "Black Lagoon: Second Barrage". Look for it on... um.

Store shelves, yep, that's where you can find it.

Do what? It turns to sh*t after a while, not to mention it starts using anime-cliches and just gets ridiculous and predictable. Like the ending.

Hmm.. I just finished Megazone 23 and Megazone 23 part II.

All I have to say is.... what the freaking hell? The endings make me go "huh?", then "wah?", then "barf?", then "!@$@#". You thought Eva's ending is messed up? Watch Megazone 23.

Got an email from rightstuffs about a dvd set for <a href="http://shingu.rightstuf.com/" target="_blank">Shingu:secret of the stellar wars</a>.

The way they talk about it is like this might be worth watching. But since I have only very very recently been interested into anims, I have no clue about this show.

    Anyone seen it ?

    How is it ?

So far I have seen Bleach from ep1 to 112.
Full metal alchimist ep 1 to 25 (I tink)
Cowboy Bebop Ep 1 to 26 (except 4, 9 and 10 which I somehow am missing)
Hellsing OVA 1 and 2, ep 1-13 (prefer episodes then OVA)
Saw very few episodes of .hack//sign
Eureka-7 ep 1-23 (love this show as it makes me laugh and cry)
    Few episodes of Onepiece
a few others which I don't remember the titles
Samourai Jack most of it (I miss that show)

CowBoy Bebob: It's an interesting series. It really isn't the most gripping character development ever done, not the best action, nor the best drama, but it holds it's own almost entirely on a brilliantly crafted set of genera's and moods that run throughout the series. Art is WAY above average...

Trigun: Cutesy but watchable. Some good drama scenes.

    ...

Hellsing: I'm not sure... It was pretty watchable, but kind of required you to step into a little darker of a universe to really enjoy it. I guess I'd categorize it sort of as a really dark version of dragon ball Z. the pattern at least remains. Fight some guy, win, some stronger guy appears, a few filler episodes, fight stronger guy and win by reaching next power level, rinse repeat with more threats and scariness on the line each time... It's a GREAT series in terms of art work and establishing a visual theme, but I guess my complaint is that the plot pattern is pretty generic... It's not the series that will have you crying or laughing though... It just doesn't pull the emotions around much.

That pretty much covers the stuff I've watched that I can remember the title of...

I wanted to ask... from the very small amount of full metal alchemist I watched it seemed highly reminiscent of Naruto. That is to say fairly dry characters running around in a setting that is mostly made interesting by certain liberties the author has allowed on the world they exist in that make them able to do cool things. Could someone who's watched both give me an honest comparative evaluation? I'd far prefer not watching another naruto like series that is basically a long drawn out brain dead epic... The more intelligent series I find much more entertaining.
    <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Trigun and Hellsing have to be my favourites. Big props to Cowboy Bebop too, its up there. I watched Cowboy Bebop more as a series of stories, as opposed to being episodes of one story. Watching it like that you can really forgive the lack of character development and really just go with the flow.

Hellsing is brilliant, but short. I also couldnt help but feel that it wasn't nearly brutal enough. The bits of the manga i have read seem to be much nastier, and Seras Victoria is much more assertive. Hellsing Ultimate is looking really good. Very similar art, but much closer to the manga.

Ignore Scythe's comment on Trigun. He's a poor sod that just doesn't understand it. It's an anime where you have to look past what is happening immediately in front of you, and make guesses about the character's motivations rather than expecting to have them fed to you like most anime. It has a lot of underlying themes that really appealed to me, but i've found a lot of people don't pick up on them or really understand what is actually going on in it.

I found FMA somewhat reminiscent of Naruto too, with a few major differences that meant i could actually finish it: It is not anything like as repetitive, it has an over-arching storyline that actually goes somewhere. Each episode has a beginning and an ending, none of this taking-ten-episodes-to-get-somewhere crap. The production values are great, and the world is generally pretty well defined. Characterisation is good. The end sucks a bit though, its almost literally one of those "and then he woke up!" endings. It also suffers from the naruto-and-many-other-esque 30 sec explanation of how hero is going to win the fight right in the middle of the battle thing. It was generally enjoyable though. Thankfully no BS love story or crappy attempts at sexual tension either.

Well considering that Anno didn't even care what some of the symbols he was throwing around were, I'd say that's one reason to be scared (specifically from the commentary, the little green crosses that everyone bursts into when isntrumentality begins to take effect; apparently they 'just looked cool'). Scarier still: people sent him death threats for the ambiguity of the original episodic ending. Personally I could do without Shinji's self-loathing, incoherent, whiney, repetitive mumblings (...along with Shinji in Asuka's hospital room, blech), but Asuka's über-battle against the automatic Evas is worth it (although I still think the episodic ending is - storywise - cooler (...but then again, I'm not a fan of 'happy endings' despite how barely happy they may be - maybe that should read 'I'm not a fan of blatant, point-by-point, unambiguous endings').

(Then again, Shinji's annoyingness kind of exists in the last two episodes as well, plus you've got the giant council 'soul' monoliths that it likes to cut to all the time too. It's kind of like watching a black screen with people talking, but that's what happens when people cut your budget, I guess)

Don't expect any big insights from me beyond this, End of Evangelion is actually the only anime DVD I own (zomg, heretic!). Some people are just poor <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> .

Anyway, I thought Trigun wasn't all that cutesy past the half-way point. It becomes less 'fun' to watch, but becomes interesting and slightly philisophical instead (although abit absurd in places). Unfortunately similar events tend to happen in numerous episodes which kind of washes away some of the allure, and there's no real connectivity between many of the episodes, which also kind of knocks it down some, but I like the characters, the art, the setting, the (small amount the anime gives you) backstory and general moral offerings of the show.

    Might I suggest watching Mushishi.

Reminds me a lot of Princess Mononoke. Except that it's a TV series.

Oh gnoes, good reviews, I may actually watch.

    Ah well,
How about this for an esoteric <strike>anime</strike> manga.

    Angel Densetsu:
Kitano Seichiro - a really nice guy with a face of a demon. The story begins with him attending a new school, where nobody knows him... Because of his appearance, teachers and fellow classmen think he is the worst delinquent, "violence incarnate". They try to correct him, expel him or beat him up. Lots of accidents doesn't help to fix the situation either, and he gains the delinquent "guardian" position at his school. But because of his attitude, some of those that attack him become his friends...All the misunderstandings make the story extremly funny.

Kitano Seichiro- The main protagonist, a boy whose face inspires terror and despair in other people's hearts, but whose true nature is kind-hearted. His gentle and caring actions mostly frighten those around him, and he's used to getting hit for no apparent reason at all, so he developed speed and reflexes which allow him to absorb the power of the blows; although he has no martial arts skill and doesn't like violence, this in itself is enough to make any skilled fighter lose their will to fight, so he's technically unbeaten.

(Mangled, not my reviews, but I suck at writing detail anyways ;D)

For those who actually care, something incredibly tragic just happen in Code Geass, and all the fanboys are in riot. Heads will roll.

Relax... it's not Gundam Seed Destiny tragic, it's Shakespeare/Homer's tragic. I didn't see it coming, no one saw it coming. And I wish I have seen it coming, I have seen every kind of cliche plot in anime.
