<div class="IPBDescription">anyone remeber this?</div>a while back there was a plugin for combat called territory. it involved putting nodes around the combat maps, then each team would build a building on the node to capture it. whatever building they choose unlocks upgrades for the team.
i think this was a great idea, and it would fit perfectly into ns2. it would be a simpler mode that would take less time than a classic match, but it would still have the ideals and teamplay of classic. it would also help new players to understand the ns universe a lot better than the current combat mode.

Can anyone get me a link to download it, even if its a old version. Ill fix it up and make a server to see if it would be good for NS2.

never tried it, sounds like a great idea.
Making a game mode fulfilling the same game design goals of CO of short quick matches but which still encourages teamplays should be worth considering. Any changes or addons to CO that better teaches new players what NS is about gets my vote.
Examples:
<u>Marines must open the cargo bay doors for (something).</u>
There are 3 parts to the doors, the controls, the wiring, and the motor. All can be fixed with a welder and destroyed by damaging it.
The controls toggle the door open and closed, only usable by the marines.
The wiring must be in place for the controls to open or close the door.
The motor fails closed, if it is destroyed, the doors close.
Therefore, if the marines get there first, they can press the button and open the door. However the aliens can come along and destroy the motor to close them. If they also destroy the wiring and the controls, it will make it that much harder to open them again.
<u>Marines must reroute exhaust from the hive:</u>
All over the map, there are different relays that direct the flow of engine exhaust, by destroying specific ones, the exhaust feeds the hive, by welding the right ones, and it does not.
I’m sure there are more ideas, I just don’t want to see it a BF clone, ‘everyone bail out of the Blackhawk and stand there ok, capped, get back in and charge to the next one...’
