That is so awesome, but this is so likely to get locked because mods don't like AWESOMENESS.

    Awesome!

Dude, now we have 3 threads on the same damn topic.
And, imo, that was one bad fight scene and poor choreography. The enemies on the screen has an AI worse than HL2 resistance. 2 steps from the enemy, what should I do? I know! I'll leap! And now with random slow-motion worse than Tony Jaa movies'. If anything, you just convince me not to watch it.

What I don't get is why the ten people not being killed behind the guy killing, don't just turn and stab him. Dumb films and movie makes *shrug*

Not everyone in an army of 1 million people is a professional fighter, sorry to dissapoint you. People would be cautious when fighting because you don't respawn in real life if you accidently get cut by the guys blade.

I loved the slow-motion, it let you actually see what was going on without permanently putting every thing they do into slow-motion.

Do you honestly believe that the massive Persian army that most likely had drafted most of its soldiers had the same amount of training as the spartan? Each individual Spartan soldier had the same training as the Persian army's special forces, their cream of the crop was the Spartans' ordinary soldier. Their main tactic was to use their mobility to their advantage rather than slowly inch forward into the troops in an organized formation - they rushed, surrounded, and crushed inwards on the enemy with calvary and light infantry. Its meant to be a brutal charge to actually BREAK the Spartan line, and, do tell me - how do you break a wall of well trained Spartan infantry (trick question - you don't! xP)? Because inching into that might be considered a bit dumber than actually jumping into it, at least with the jumping you've got more force behind the blow, rather than coming at them in rags, a sword in one hand and unable to touch them because they have range on you with spears.

Also, that clip was of them just fighting the persion meat-wall, as it would be. They fight the actual persian special-forces later in the movie, and they do just what you suggested people would do.

I don't see why you even need to defend it. It's a god damn movie, not a documentary. The events are in fact - contrary to popular belief - not happening in real time. People in Japan don't actually all walk around with swords, no matter what Tarantino says.

Hey man, I didn't say anything about professional soldier. When I say leaping, I was thinking of the 0:44-0:45 kinda moments.
I'm just nitpicking. Why are the Persian soldiers bunnyhopping?

If you are falling as you swing your sword downwards, you get more force. It's science!

Anyway, I wouldn't judge and ENTIRE movie on 2 minutes of footage, seriously. The movie is enjoyable (well, assuming you don't go into the theater expecting it to make you philosophically reconsider your life, or that you are so poisoned towards it that you will hate it no matter what) as an action movie, there is lots of fighting and the movie as a whole is artistic. That's about all I've got to say on that I guess.

TBH renting is a worse option than seeing it at the cinema - this movie was made for the big screen.

    QFT

the only movies I still go to see are ones where it is all about the visuals.

Oh, and that video fails for being RIGHT after the spot where they actualy use proper Spartan tactics (aka, a phalanx)

True, you'll like it less if you don't see it on a hueg loud screen thats all fancy and in your face with the wow.

Well, maybe not like it less.. but it's a greater experience in a theatre for those types of films.
