I need advice

<div class="IPBDescription">I've got a bit of a problem</div>So I built this time machine right, it's to complicated for me to explain right now.

Anyway, the second I turned it on a copy of me crawled out. Apparently he is from the future, only like a few hours though.

The problem is though: He is a total jerk, I never realised i could be so annoying. Am I allowed to kill him? I mean, he's just another version of me. So that's just suicide right? Im so confused.

Well, I guess that depends on your own moral code of whether killing someone is right...

The good thing is, is that you know that your victim will have the same moral code as you.

But now that his past self knows not to go back in time then his future self won't go through the machine which means that his past self won't know not to go through which means he will go through but then his past self will know not to go through so his future self will go through but then learning what a jerk his future self is his past self wont go through and then his future self will come through since his past self will have gone through which will make his past self not go through thus not warning his that his future self is a jerk which will then make him go back in time but his past self will then realize from his future self that comes through that he is not nice which will not make him go back in time which will then not warn him so that his future self will go back which will in turn cause him to think that he could go back in time and his past self will then realize how bad his future self is which will make his past self go back in time which means his past self is a future self which will make him go back in time which then makes him not want to go back in time after realizing how much of a jerk his future self is which means that he will not want to go back in time after realizing this which means that his future self will not exist to go back in time which in turn will cause his past self to not know how much of a jerk his future self is which will then make his past self go through the machine (yes I have too much time on my hands, and if you read all the way up to this part that means you do to) then his past self will go back in time and his future self won't go back in time and the past self will then meet his future self and his future self will make the past self realize how mean the future self is which will make the past self go back in time which than will make him not go into the future thus not making the future self go back and the future self then won't get the warning that his past self needs not to go back in time and the past self will then go forward in time so that the future self will exist and go back in time so that the past self knows how much of a jerk the future self is the past self will not go back in time and make the future self not exist again, but then there is no sign that he should not go forward in time which will then make the future self go back in time and then warn the past self once again and the future and the past self will meet and not go back in time and then the past self will go forward in time and make the past self go back and the forward self will go back in time and the past self will meet the future self so that the past self knows not to go back in time which will then make the future self not go back in time so that the past self then won’t know to not know that he knows which will make the past self go back ion time and the past self will be in the future and the future self in the past there several stuff will happen and hippopotamus whip creak fire moot cookie fish glue factory fuzzy elephants orange peels and a pink apple

I would wait a couple of hours, Xyth...

It seems that you will test your time machine in about 100 minutes time, and it will succeed, and you will be back in the past (20-30 minutes ago from this post).

Then you will just have to put up with yourself...your past self (assuming you haven't killed him...the future him...yet) until your past self climbs into the time machine and disappears forever!

And I feel that somehow his YTMND is incredibly relevant to this post.

Maybe it is the stress of an undeniable realisation that you are no longer yourself? Or he is himself...arg. My point is, how does it feel to know that you are NOT unique? That there is another exactly like you. I'd be ###### off.

Just remember....anything you do, you will do to yourself. In time. Unless you can determin if this doppleganger is from a different dimension, in which case I think you should feel obliged to do as you like to him because he has invaded your spiritual and personal space in this dimension. He's probably eaten your food as well.

But if you can, why not team up and confuse the hell out of some other people? If he is a jerk, and he thinks you are a jerk (see other thread), then be jerks together! You would be a formidable force.

if your future self just kills you past self than we wouldn't have this problem, let me explain...

But if the future self kill the past self then he may create a parallel universe in which he did not go back in time and kill himself in one universe which his past self did go forward in time did go back to kill him self and in one universe the other will have gone back in time to kill his future self and his past self will be dead unless his future self is alive thus his future self will exist while his past did not exist so that in one universe his past self will go back in time and kill him self and will create another parallel universe which means that he will continuously go forward in time only to go back in time to kill himself and his past self will die to his future self thus creating another parallel universe and the past self will then cease to exist until you go further back in time and the past self will have no future other than itself going forward in time which creates a future in itself but then the past self will so the future self but not know that the future self will not kill the past but the past will live in the future and loop around again and not kill the past self and the future will then not exist to kill the past which means the past can go forward to kill the past and the past will then die but in this the past will exist since the future does not exist until the future does not kill the past and the past then stops the future self from killing himself to stop the suicide of the past which will cause the future not to exist and the future will stop from killing the past and another alternate universe will be created unless the future kills the past again and the past and the future will meet and kill each other so that the past does not go into the future and then the future will exist to go back in time to kill the past and the past will then not exist to go forward in time to kill the past so the past is safe and its only future is to go back in time to kill himself and then there will be not past for the future to go to so the past will see that the future is coming because he himself thought of the plan to kill him self so if he reads that then the past will go to the future and kill himself before himself can kill him and he will be safe from himself

But if indeed this is creating a loop of past me's and present me's going through the teleporter, then wouldn't my future self tell me that he was actually at this point before? I mean... I don't think I would do that. For the cycle to continue I would have to go through the teleporter and be the future me. I'd also end up living these few hours over again. That's pretty lame. The real question is: what was my future self doing for 5 hours? I would have jumped right into the machine to see if it worked if he hadn't come out first...

He's in the kitchen now (guess he hasn't eaten in the last 5 hours...). I think Ill confront him.

Okay guys. I talked to my future self and he "claims" that he slept for the 4 hours between finishing the device and ending up in this time-frame.

I... I think I know why. What if Im supposed to go back in time and slip myself something that makes me sleep for those 4 hours? But then once Im back in time, what am I supposed to do? Does that mean that there is a 3rd of me around here somewhere?

I think he must be lying, for whatever reason. It seems the real reason for the delay is that he, you, kept on being bothered by himself, yourself. Assume that when he completed his time machine, he also saw himself come through and so he already knows how much of a jerk you are.

I got it! This is just a small time loop, there is no problem at all. Xyth won't become trapped at a dead end. The rest of the world is located parallel to the loop, and the message posting takes place in between the meeting and time travel. We shouldn't see Xyth acting like this anymore unless he time travels again, because we have already past that particular instance.

However, this doesn't explain why Xyth did not meet his future self until AFTER he time travelled. If time worked in a non-linear way, then that means that EVERYSINGLE past Xyth would've seen his future XYTH. It doesn't make sense though, because said this is the first time he saw his future self only after he time travelled.

ACCORDING TO XYTH'S EXPERIENCE, I CONCLUDE THAT TIME IS LINEAR, AND IT IS ONLY POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF THE MANY-WORLDS THEORY.

This now means that a universe exists for every single instance of choice. That means when Xyth time travelled, he suddenly became aware of his other self in the other world where he was able to meet his past self for the first time.

Both our machines go on at the same time. Nothing seems to happen to mine in world 1. However Me2 from world 2 shows up when Im not in the room and poisons me (1). I sleep until 12:00 where I wake up and get into the machine, popping out in world 2 just as his machine turns on.

This still begs the question, is Me2 still in world 1? Or did he travel again?
