March 5, 2007 - Today LEGO announced it is working with NetDevil (Auto Assault) to develop an MMO based on everyone's favorite building blocks.

"The LEGO brand represents construction, creativity and problem solving -- values that compliment the MMOG market," said Lisbeth Valther Pallesen, Executive VP, Community, Education, and Direct Division LEGO Group.

The LEGO brand was successfully transferred into games with LEGO Star Wars, and NetDevil already has three online games under its belt. The two companies aren't ready to reveal any details about their new venture, yet, but IGN will deliver the scoop when they are.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

nothing truly definitive yet but come on it's <b>LEGO!</b>

It'd be cool to see some of the crazy things people could build.

As far as I'm concerned these Lego games are an excuse for crappy graphics. If they can really build in the creativity of Legos in a multiplayer context, perhaps I would be interested.

i will be disappointed if it turns up to be a abusively kid-voice infested game or something like that although it looked interesting now

So wait, it will allow you to freely build anything you want in a publicly viewable forum? Almost like some kind of fake life, I guess you could say it would be a second life of some sort?

Can I break what others create? Can I? Can I?

By the way, the name Netdevil seemed familiar. They created Auto Assault, I think. They managed to take a really novel and cool premise and turn it into a game that nobody wanted to play. Not so sure I'd entrust them with my multi-milliard-euro brand.

Hell, lets just play that game that we all loved a year back or so, where it was online Lego, but not called Lego. Blockland, I think.

Yeah I revived the topic but no one seems interested to play Blockland anymore.

Aww come on, AA isn't THAT bad <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> and i just hope they've learned alot from making AA so they wont make as many mistakes when creating the lego game.

Auto Assault was one of those rare MMOs I didn't bother trying due to the fact I tend to stick to games where I play my character rather than spend the majority of it shooting about in a vehicle or spaceship.

What was wrong with AA anyhoo? :o

My main problem with it, was that it didn't feel like a car-mmo, it just felt like they had replaced your standard humanoid avatar with a car. It simply felt like your standard hack'n'slash mmo <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

blockland was good fun.. werent they working on a retail version?

and auto assault wasnt bad from what i played... but i only played the beta... game crashed when i tried to leave the city... it was fun before that though! maybe the players couldve used more playing rather than driving.. i mean, the player models did look freaking sexy and there was plenty of customization

ooooh lego would be a good mmo for customizing characters and whatnot... i mean, the armor already exists from medieval to deep sea to space.. just has to be modeled and put in a game..

Yeah, I checked on it, and you have to pay for Blockland now, and its twenty bucks.

Now, Blockland is cool and all, but twenty dollars seems kind of excessive. Ten would be more reasonable, especially considering the players are the ones that make the cool stuff.

I liked playing AA while it was free, did they change it a bunch after releasing?

Actually, in Blockland I remember stacking windows so I could get as high up as possible, and then building a sky fortress.

    I can see it now:

    <a href="http://gucomics.com/archives/view.php?cdate=20070307" target="_blank">The Legos Are Talking!</a>

In all honesty I am reservign all judgment untill I see what they plan on doing. Is it goign ot be legos ala blockland? or is it going to be legos ala Legos Starwars?
