<div class="IPBDescription">help wanted</div>Hi Everyone,
Thanks to Buzzou's merchandising thread - <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?s=7452290791221718016&showtopic=100310" target="_blank">http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index....howtopic=100310</a>
It sparked an idea for an<!--coloro:#66CCCC--><span style="color:#66CCCC"><!--/coloro--> <b>NS Board Game. </b><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->
I'll probably turn this into a an officalish thread later but just wanted to see

<b>-Whether it is a good idea?</b>
Would anyone actually play it and enjoy it
<b>-Who would be interested in helping out</b>
We'd need artists and play testers, someone to write up the play guide, and perhaps someone who is good with scissors....
<b>-Plus if anyone has any ideas</b>
which they think would make it fun (different game play systems, dice, grid based, turn based, cards etc, how to keep it fun, but also be true to NS, how would health and ammo work?)<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->

Your friends don't have a steam account? Your mum says you spend too much time on the computer? Going somewhere without an Internet connection?
Well don't worry kids, cause here is the NS board game!
Some quick ideas without going too deep -
THe game could include
-dice
-cards to represent special events when rolled or location is reached
- cast plastic figurines (or plastic stands with colour cards [with detailed stats]to represent), 16 marines, 8 marine res towers, all marines buildings,16 skulks, 4 fades, 4 onos, 4 gorges, 4 lerks, 8 alien res towers, all aliens buildings and hives etc.
Magnetic underlay for the map layouts, so things don't move about - so you can place structures & players over and over again without them moving or loosing their stickyness.
-Top down view layout of 4-5 favourite maps
-hard copy and cd copy of play guide, intructions to create your own maps, perhaps even a program which converts existing bsp maps into playable boardgame maps which can be printed out. so you never run out of maps
(if this would executed quickly enough, then it could also fill the gap until ns2 comes out, besides, what better way to enhance your ns knowledge and strategies? useful tool for clans?)
Hope this sparks someones interest <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Aliens would be played by 1 Player ( the Hive Mind )
Marines by everyone else.
But.. who will fund that? Wo will draw all this thingys? etc.
i would give it a shot.
i just need a tablet -.-
when i get the funds i will buy a decent one..
Although I guess there is always the possiblity of selling it through the online store (if the big C approves) and if it really proves popular why not have it distributed along with all other board games in toy/hobby stores.

here's another one, less detail, but its the most recent version of the map..... someone get out ms paint and go nuts!

Images of classic rooms and corridor that can link up so you could make new maps every time.

I'd like for the game to have a magnetic underlay, and also have the players and buildings represeted with flat fridge magnets - <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/asrifle.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::asrifle::" border="0" alt="asrifle.gif" /> - (a marine would take up 1 square which = 32x32 units in hl2 hammer editor)
Then on top of the magnetic underlay you would place your map layout.
Then above that you place your clear overlay to allow for whiteboard marker drawing and rubbing off easily. This clear overlay could also contain the grid pattern needed for play so that it wouldnt matter what type of map lay out you have, and would make it also much easier to create your own.
I give you, NSopoly.

"nub gorge makes OC stack. lose 150 res"
no board game.... for the time being.....
You could have simple 1x1 inch square grid and say that marines shoot 2 squares, skulks attack 1, gorge 2, etc. but thats not very fun is it?
Really, you could make it rather complex like Wh40k (actually in such a game as this, that sort of system might work quite well...)
