Question about omega drivers...

Would getting omega drivers, and using tweaking it with the settings, significantly increase the performance of my ATI Radeon 9000?

On a sort of related note, you ought to look at a <a href="http://www.tweakguides.com/ATICAT_1.html" target="_blank">Catalyst Tweak Guide</a> and see what that gets you.

I don't know much about the Omega drivers. They never seemed to do a thing for me.

No. You would be better off buying a new card.

Ya, the 9000 is a pretty weak card, you're not gonna magically make preform well with any software drivers.

I don't know performance wise were 9000 is in comparison to my 9600 (on my laptop) but the omega drivers certainly increased my frame rates in HL2 and Doom3/Prey. It already runs so fast in HL1 that I can't tell the difference ;P

    9000 runs HL2? Wow my 9200 struggled when HL2 first come out as it was on all lowest settings. Upgrade <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Compared to the lastest catalyst or compared to default old drivers? Drivers make a big difference, but omega drivers aren't usually that far ahead of catalyst performance.

Omega drivers are simply the latest driver version, but then optimised to run more efficient... So it will increase performance, but don't expect it to work miricles <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
