Problem exiting NS

I have been playing NS for some time, and I have an issue when closing NS. I am using NS 3.2 Beta. When ever i quit the game, it freezes with the picture of 3 marines and two aliens. From there I have to bring up task manager and manually close NS from there. Recently it has frozen and wouldnt even let me bring up the task manager. I had to shut off my computer. I would love it if you could fix this problem. If you need any more information or anything, just ask. Thank you.

So tell me, what are these three marines and two aliens doing? Are they having a tea party?

I have the same problem too, thought maybe it was just x64 related.

    Same here...

    Solution:

Hit the hotkey for Sleep mode (The one with the sleeping Moon) Then close the Hl.exe via the task manager after you fire up the computer again.

Same problem here, using NS 3.1.3

I usually Alt+Tab out to desktop then close via Task Manager, or Windows Key + D to Desktop and close via Task Manager

Some system info would work wonders. I had a quite similar problem and it got fixed when I got myself 700+ mt RAM instead of 256.

Maybe you should just say that your NS freezes and you see the background picture. This problem has something to do with Windows XP and the hardware that you have (it's probably memory). On my old computer (256mb RDRAM, p4 1.6ghz, geforce2, sound blaster live) I got this problem about 3 months after reformatting - I'm guessing some driver update created some kind of conflict which I couldn't get rid of. Tried reinstalling steam, ns, etc. Only reformatting worked and it didn't bother me enough to do it.

With my new computer, I never get the problem. Setup is similar except I have 2gb of ram now and the p4 is 3ghz or so, with sound blaster live and geforce5500. I've never had the problem.

I really think it has something to do with the RAM, since HL can rack up quite a bit of resource usage.

Therefore, the solution is probably to get more RAM (or check if yours works properly with memtest if you have plenty of it).

I thought this post would fix my problem with NS, but it didn't quite help me with the issue I'm having. NS causes my entire computer to freeze and crash after I close the program.. only after I close NS do I have any issues with it. I have tried Ctrl+Alt+Del out but when I try to close anything is when the computer freezes. More specifically... after I tab out of NS and attempt to close anything it will freeze however only on the second key stroke or the mouse click after first key stroke. I see ram fixed the issue for some.. I'm assuming that's not my problem however. I'm running on XP if that helps find the problem. Can someone throw me a bone here?

    Comp specs:
    AMD Athlon ™ 64X2 Dual
    Core processor 5600
    2.8Ghz
    3.25GB Ram

    ATI Radeon HD 3870

I just recently "cleaned" the old frankenstein here, after a good thorough sweep and reinstalls galore, things are up and working again so far. You gave me the idea.. I should just probably wipe this thing and clean up a little and it worked for me... not sure what the problem could have been but it seems to be gone. Thanks.

Alright.. apparently I was wrong.. same problem as previously mentioned... apparently it just didn't freeze the computer the first ten or so times exiting the game. If anyone's got a clue I'd appreciate it.
