    Here we go. this is only a fast compile, and I have some lighting optimizations to do plus a bit of architectural bits to finish up. I hope to do something nifty with the back wall. I could also use some tips on the ship- a pain in the rump to do round bits with hamme when making funnel shapes XD

    Judging invitation has been closed. 5 Panel judges means a contestant could reach a maximum score of 315 points.

    Damnit all... I'm out. I got my new SATA hard drive in, so I put my old hard drive in my other PC, figuring it'd boot just fine. NOPE! Not only did it NOT boot, but in trying to self correct the problem (GG WINDOWS!) it scanned the hard drive, thought it found a virus, and reformated before I could stop it. Sonuva######.

    btw im still down for this contest. I've sorta started mapping but its actually of the middle hive. But, good news is that ive done the pencil drawings for the full layout of MS and the nearby 3 nodes (the general layout has been done but many rooms are still only abstract concepts, not full drawn designs).

    So we'll see if i make the 31st deadly. I'm pretty quick once i actually have the designs, so we'll see.

    I haven't been able to recover the data yet. My roomate is bringing a high-end (said it was twelve hundred bucks) data recovery program next week.

    Nice. It's got a good visual spark just don't get all mineshaft/shiva and put everything including the kitchen sink in, the balance looks nice right now. Whats your layout like?

    Cheers for the kind words! I think it's ready to submit but I'll keep working till the deadline. I want to get another node in roughly 12 seconds from the MS.

    Ben - concerning layout... I have not planned any of this, just started mapping for the contest. But if you draw a straight line with some boxes on it you have a rough idea of my layout.

    Not r_speed friendly...

    Although I'm trying to avoid high numbers, I figure r_speeds aren't that important 9 years on.

    The countdown continues, 3 days until the deadline.

    I would like to remind the contestants that we will need the complete map, files, rmf, logs, light data, wads etc zipped and mailed in no later than 11:59pm EST on Wednesday Jan 31st. (Wads NOT include are anything other than the norm; e.g. halflife.wad, ns.wad, and ns2.wad)

    PLEASE DO NOT POST your zip files in this forum. You may either send a link to [email protected], in a PM or simply email the zip. The finished BSP MAY be posted here, or I'll shuffle it around to all of the judges.

    The winner should be announced, with luck and cooperation of the judging panel, by the end of the weekend.

    We are currently taking entries for phase 2, which is slated to start Thursday, and ends Febuary 28th. Restrictions for this contest will be similar to Phase 1, with details to follow. Please post here if you will be interested in competing in Phase 2, First Hive.

    I'm on the verge of releasing a huge update for my fully built map, Nexus. Even though i have quite a bit done for the MS of ns_stage, my contribution to this contest, theres a good chance it wont be screeny-ready by wednesday night. Can i still hand it in after and remain in the contest (for the later phases)?

    No one gets disqualified from other phases, each phase is a whole new round. Anyone can join/quit at any time.

    This is for everyones benefit.

    How much time are you needing? 24 hours (Thursday)?

    Its all good shen. I just did what i think is the final compile for nexus b3 lastnight (i finally managed to fit in a readyroom!), but not i need to fix the minimap. A friend is gonna show me around photoshop. I might still get in some time to map on Stage, but dont hold up the process for lil' ol' me.
