Really digging the survey idea, wouldn't mind filling out more as development goes on.
As far as a 'guerrilla' marketing campaign, the game itself is going to naturally draw people into it. As somebody already mentioned, look at the dynamic infestation video and how far that spread. It would have to be something subtle and not a "go post on other people's forums about our game" sort of thing.
Concentrate on making a great game first. Release previews\teasers\prototyping progress semi-frequently in the blog like what's been done to keep word of mouth going. As the game nears release, I'm sure the news will be spread far and wide, especially if its going to be released on steam.
First of all, I would like to see the onos a little smaller because they are always blocking the hallways and doors. I would like to see the infantry IP's more harder to take out because a lot of people goes after them at start and the games ends quick. I also, would like to see finally women figures that we can choose instead of all male because a lot of women plays this also and I never see any game that has this option... I would just like to see it harder to take out each side so soon in a game.. Let me tell you, I am 53 years old and a women and this is the only game I play with in my clan. I can not wait for the new NS2 to come out..Just surprise us and make us work for the goodies....
Just finished my survey as well, but theres something I'd like to add to it.
I'd like to see at least 3 new things in NS2, which could be either:
A) New game modes B) New alien classes/Marine weapons/armor upgrades C) New turrets/chambers
We've been playing the same game for a while now. I'm hoping NS2 will <b>feel much more</b> than a port. I don't believe just gameplay changes such as "hives can be dropped in any room which is big enough" you hinted at the interview will do it. Something brand new would be nice.
I believe someone on this topic said that our beloved Onos needs to be smaller. I respectfully disagree with him. Instead, I believe future maps should be HUGE in design, huge enough to fit 2 Onos and a gorge on most hallways, and one and a half Onos on hallways which are supposed to be small.
Should map designers ever feel the need of hallways where Onos aren't supposed to enter for whatever reason, make the doors smaller, not the hallway itself. We're talking about military spaceships and facilities here, they are supposed to have large hallways to carry big shipments/research equipments around.
I'm really hoping that in my first game of NS2 I will load the room and say WHOA, THIS IS A FRECKIN HUGE ROOM. It would do a lot for the atmosphere.

I find it horribly disorientating. I would never play a skulk if this were mandatory.
Survey closed <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" /> bah, bit late i guess
omg survey closed again, i wish at least to know which are the questions, though i could't answer them <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad-fix.gif" />
Wow! At least we know there are a lot of interest in NS2 <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":0" border="0" alt="wow.gif" />

well yes and no. i voted no to having realistic weapons (recoil etc) but yes to having upsidedown vision when clinging to ceilings for a reason.
skulks rely on something biological (their vision) to be able to see rines on the ground or anything else ,while sitting in the ceiling. Marines on the other had rely on techology, thus should be so advanced, that it can suppress recoil and aim compensation. comon this is the future! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
You guys cut just vote before its was closing <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
500 replies is seriously low for a community in the tens of thousands. Perhaps 2/3 thousand replies would be more illustrative of the communities views/opinions/outlooks?

Poll wasnt open long enough to have ten thousands of forms of feedback. besides im thinking we havent seen the last of these surveys. they also have to close the survey to be able to read the first wave of feedback received....

To be fair, I think that mostly arose from having a scope on the LMG that you couldn't actually use. That caused a bit of confusion, naturally. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Perhaps, but I wouldn't want to have to sit around and read through 500 surveys, let alone thousands! Cheers to Unknown Worlds for doing this much. (must've been lucky 'coz I got mine filled out last night!)
Yes, it would be nice to have the survey up and running, quite a few of us missed it. For me, I missed it because I don't check the home page everyday.
500 replies seemed to be plenty for statistical relevance but enough of you want to fill it out, I've opened it back up to 1,000 replies.
As far as guerrilla marketing goes, I'm just going to say this about it and then let the issue go:
- Every game I've worked on suffered from not enough publicity and a small or non-existent marketing budget - Yes, I hope and expect to have "buzz" without doing any work but why leave it at just that? Of course our main efforts are on creating a great game but that's not enough if no one knows about it. The world is full of amazing games that no one played. - I would never ask anyone to write something or do something they didn't believe. I'm probably just going to create an e-mail list of the folks that offered to help and then e-mail them when we have new stuff we want spread around and they can do whatever they want with it, if anything.
I checked "no", because I think I would find it harder to land bites when jumping down from the ceiling, BUT if it would be a per-user-setting that would be very neat.

Actually, thinking about it, maybe thats a good thing. They have created a great game thus far!
Just wondering what others though?
