We got bored...

<div class="IPBDescription">Another question by Patch!!!</div>Ok, so me and Femme got bored one day, waiting for a film to come on the cinema. Casino Royale. If you've not yet seen it/torrented it, do so immediately, you'll not be disappointed <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

So we hit the 2p pushers, which for all you yank types, you put a 2 pence coin in, and it pushes other coins that are already in the machine, and you can get more coins out, and some small toys, or tokens. In our case, we hit the ones that give out small toys.

<img src="http://xs411.xs.to/xs411/07012/DSCF0476.JPG" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />
£4 or so in. 10 toys out ^_^

So, the question begs, what have you won, with very little effort or money invested (£4 to get 10 small ornaments is nothing really <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />)?

Normally you get cheap crap, but in this case they are damn cute.

    Now, my girlfriend would love that collection. How much? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Every time I look at one of those machines, I see Fortuna standing behind it, glaring. I snarl a bit and walk past. Yes, I get looks. And no knick-knack. But I keep my money.
Fortuna and me, we hate each other. Lots.

you know that machine in the arcade with the light that goes around in a circle, and you have to slam your button right when the light passes over your spot?

after i turned like 10 years old i never won that thing again..

but when i was younger, i won that damn thing twice, for insane ticket jackpots.

I used to be godly on the Claw machines (claw drops down, grabs toy). Never put more than $1 in (usually worth two plays), but I probably had a 50% success rate.

Lost my touch about a year ago, though. ):

I'll only address the first part of your post, since I disagree with this. It's been publicized that Daniel Craig will receive $6,000,000 for his next James Bond film. I saw <i>Casino Royale</i> and tried as hard as I could to give him a chance. Having grown up in the Sean Connery era I have to say - Craig failed miserably as Bond.

[edit] Also, since you made a reference to "you yank types" (which I'll assume refers to Americans) how about finishing the description and converting "pence" so we can get a grasp on how much this is? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" /> [/edit]

Pence is what you put over your legs so that people don't take you for a complete freak when you're outside.

pence is the Sterling pounds answer to the american dolla's cents...

    1 pence = 1/100th pound....

    100 pence = 1 pound

PANCE which you are vigorously referring to is what you wear under your trousers so your jewels wont get too cold, caught or...w/e lets say in a safe location..

A couple years back I went to a amusement park with my family (I was about 11 or so) which were located in the harbour. They had this stand were you were suposed to throw a ball at the center of a big circle (aprox 8 meters away, and the middle was 8cm wide) if you succeed a poor chmuck sitting on a plank over the water is tripped down into the water.
There were lots of older guys standing around and giving it their best, cheering on each other and booing those who miss. Regardless I wished to try. I got 3 balls and everyone around placed their attention on me. The guy on the plank had almost dried up and people were getting anxious to put him down.

I actually managed to perfectly hit the very middle of the target and the plank falls over, almost taken off guard the victim plunges into the water. I havn't experienced such a cheering since some young boy fragged Fatal1ty at a Dreamhack LAN. Good times <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

like a few others here I've got 'the knack' when it comes to claw machines. Almost never fail to nab something from them each try :3

I'm not very good at RL bowling but when I went with some of the boys one night, no matter how much I mucked about everything seemed to strike. Even though I won I managed to do all kinds of daffy things not limited to but including *accidentally bowling the ball into the machine that comes down to pick up the pins, breaking just about every nail on my hands (~sigh~), bowling backwards, bowling between my legs upside down and last but not least; bowling and *accidentally tossing the ball down a neighbouring lane :o

<b>edit:</b> * these really were accidents. I ran and hid after both of them giggling hysterically but feeling incredibly guilty. Luckily nothing was damaged, the lane next to us had recently finished their bowling game and most importantly of all; I never got caught :p

(Yea... Casino Royal = teh win)

I was really good at the crane games (was, because I haven't touched them much lately). I remember one time on a band trip back in high school, we went to a mall and there was one there. I was messing around on one, and grabbed some bear or something, so I gave it to this chic in band who was watching me. That caused her to tell her friends, they came over, asking for me to grab something, so I went at the game again. Before I knew it, a large group of band-ites were around me watching and such. It was fun.

To further derail this thread, I'll just note that if Craig failed miserably as Bond, he managed to fail in such a way as to create something infinitely cooler than Bond ever was. All hail to the Craig!

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":0" border="0" alt="wow.gif" /> You're post Depot was that bad Nem0 got there before I could in telling you that you lose in being a film critic, even Doomaniac has a better view than you <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> On that derailed note though we need to give a fresh look to old things such as Bond, as we clearly aren't creating anything new anywhere near as good as the current movies and books etc. which will be around just aslong.

Also uh, how many pence to a pound? Seriously that's like not knowing how many cents to a dollar, or how many to a Euro etc.

Don't think we're derailing diddly-squat, being Patchy mentioned it in his first post. How could one mention Casion Royale and not expect a debate?

I lack only time atm, or I'd tear D.C. apart. Frankly, he doesn't make a pimple on Sean Connery's ######. He totally lacks any finesse, is less sexy than a ton of bricks (this from the numerous females I've polled) and simply not a lady's man. <!--sizeo:1--><span style="font-size:8pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->to be continued.... ... .. .<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->

There must be something wrong with your sample. I was more or less dragged into the movie by a woman and she and her friends used pretty much every opportunity to fawn over him since then. As for finesse - there are a few really nice strokes in CR, if you ask me (see the keychain thingy) and besides, this is supposed to be a younger Bond, so it seems sensible that he is not yet as sophisticated as in later iterations.

My biggest beef with Casino Royale is this: No Q. And I can hardly blame them for that.

Uh yeah my girlfriend dragged me there to see Daniel Craig too. Oddly she hates James Bond, she walks out the room when I watch it so I'm with Nem0.

That and he's got more charm and less cheese than Brosnan. Cheese only ever worked with Moore.

Edit: Q? Haha who could they possibly get to play a young gadget making non-nerdy character?
  • eedioteediot Join Date: 2003-02-24 Member: 13903Members
Depot, I agree that Daniel Craig doesn't have the charm, however neither did Sean Connery [god forbid anybody mention the latest ex-bond]. Old Bond movies, especially in the Sean Connery style, were mostly about slapping broads around and having the actresses suddenly turn into pre-paid ######s. Not convincing and not admirable. At least with the new bond they're moving away from the ridiculous old-Bond style movies that have been done to death and were taking a horrible trend with the latest ex-bond actor. Although Daniel Craig has no ladies' charisma, Casino Royale is an amazing movie for the Bond genre.

yes, sadly because the old chap died during or short after they did the world is not enough..

on another note, hi Nem0! <3<3 *purrz*

on a 3rd note (this is turning out to be quite the song!)
i didnt like the imago bond had till i saw the last movie.
this puddytat' ish thing about him
like watching a backstreet boys concert *shudders*
hes a secret agent ffs,he needs to be mean, tough and not afraid to get abit dirty or beaten up.
last time i enjoyed a james bond film was goldeneye i think,
but that was just because he got his ###### kicked severely by a girl *giggles*

    4th note!
    this is becoming a derail!

Personally, I don't get what all the backlash against Casino Royale is about. The people who wrote the film, and the producers, all have stated that they wanted to get away from the traditional Bond stereotype. "The times have changed. It's about time Bond changed" is the quote you're looking for. Daniel Craig is the new-age Bond. Gritty, and abrasive, nothing more, take him at face value or don't take him at all.

I don't see how you're allowed to have an informed opinion about the new, gritty Bond if you haven't seen the most recent non-gritty Bond. He could be 10 times better for all you know.
