    pulse rifle had a poly missing at the back <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

    I just use HLMV to change the origin a bit so that bit isn't visible <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

that's true, pulse rifle has a bug in the upper grip, but the rest of the model looks very good, that's why i'm still using it. By the way, nice trick changing origin to hide the missing poly <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

    Hi.

This looks an awful lot like some of the Alien v_models and player models from my pack.

Please note my pack included an extensive readme asking people not to do this sort of thing.

Also, please note my pack had a very unique collection of v_weapons, specifically created and edited to cover various versions of NS, something that no other pack can claim, and used a selection of models I spent a good deal of time either creating or acquiring with the permission of their creators.

Please note my pack is still hosted, afaik still works, and I don't appreciate my work getting effectively stolen without my permission, when I have specifically requested otherwise.

Please remove any and all of my content from your pack. I shall assume your good intentions in "re-releasing" my work, but I made people many promises that their stuff wouldn't get ripped off, and I myself have taken great pains to PASSWORD PROTECT my pack so that people can't just outright steal the contents without reading the readme.

I'll be having a much closer look through this pack later, prompt action would be appreciated to correct any unauthorised "re-releasing" of my (and others) work.

Next time, please use the PM function as I specified in the email.

    Thanks!

EDIT - I also see rapidshare charges for files once a "download limit" has been exceeded. This is a problem for many users whose ISP utilise proxies. Pay sites are specifically mentioned in the readme, and additionally many of the contributors as well as myself are opposed to the concept of paying for this content.

Paying for the content also makes this pack much MUCH more illegal, as it utilises skins and models primarily developed for the AvP PC game series.

I have unfortunately had to report the post, primarily based on the above.

Again, in the future please seek permission as instructed.

There is a fully available pack that can be downloaded by following the link in my sig.

Any problems may be addressed to me by PM, as instructed in the readme.

Sorry, and hopefully this won't sour things for the future.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" /> First of all, I'm sorry. I didn't know that models couldn't be distributed, mainly because the packs from which I took the models didn't say anything of that. My only intention was to revive this kind of packs because many ns customizations sites are down. Also, i never said that these models were mine, i only made the compilation and of course credits was inside the pack . As you request, I will remove the pack . My apologies. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

I should really apologise too, I think I came across rather harsh there.

First of all I'm really glad you and so many others use and enjoy the pack. I can't take sole credit, as its a group effort that evolved with necessity. I've done my best to keep true to the other contributors wishes, and keep it updated as NS evolves.

The reason I got so pernickity is really because a lot of those guys had to be hunted down and given assurances about the pack being passed about. There was a bit of a "problem" a year or so back with a certain website and a portion of the community decided not to associate with them.

The pack is primarily passworded in order to ensure people read the readme, read the terms therein, and thus cannot claim ignorance when they spread the files around.

I appreciate your honesty in announcing you merely brought the pack together, and I'm glad you felt inspired to collect the models and release them. I also note your readme within the pack gave more than adequate credits, which again I have nothing but praise for.

The key reason behind my swoop on this thread is that the pack primarily utilises content from the AvP games as a base, and also heavily references the universe established by Fox. The main issue here is that while rapidshare is "free", it also has a download cap - after which point you must pay to download.

ISPs that use proxy servers for content cause their users to always see the "capped" warning and the pay details. This effectively forces people to buy the pack, which has serious issues when the content isnt exactly "ours", which then by extension jeopardises Natural Selection.

So, to keep things as smooth as possible, the pack has to be kept unaltered and free to download.

I believe the links in my sig are still working, and contain the latest version of the pack (V5). You will find some added content you may have missed, added bugfixes, and also IIRC support for *every* version of NS (so you can use the Lerk in original NS as well as the latest). There's also a bonus Predator fade, for those Fade players who don't identify with Aliens!

Once again, thanks for keeping interest alive, I hope I didn't seem too cross, and that you now have a bit of a handle on why this particular set of models needs my close attention.

Feel free to amend your first post with with the links in my sig, download link should still work, any problems please feel free to PM me directly and I'll get on it ASAP.

Right now there is no real intention to expand the pack further, its just covering the Alien side.

If you wish to make a pack covering Marr's sounds and any Marine content, I suggest contacting the man directly. As for the marine components - I'm not sure who's exactly responsible for those right now.

There was some attempt at making Marine buildings for the NS, I can't recall how far that got.

Anyhow, I do hope you get as much enjoyment out of the latest version of the pack. For what its worth, I liked the sprites, etc, that you added in. Up to recently I had been using l0tus' set!

    Thanks again!

    Nec

Thanks for your patience and comprehension. I really enjoyed making this pack for the comunity and my only intention was to promote NS among new and old players. Btw, i'm glad you like my sprites. Feel free to use it and distribute it if you wish <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" /> .
    I hope in a future to see some of your work for ns2, it would be wonderfull. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

I have to say I have precisely zero experience with HL2.

The best I could hope to do would be straight porting of the models, although they'd no doubt look horrid.

That of course assumes the animation setup is the same (hopefully it'll be better). The NS models have a ton of little quirks and rules that must be obeyed, and the core models have their animations named in such a way as to make compiling impossible without hex editing the names directly.

I imagine NS2 will have somewhat more complicated models, so it'll be back to square one for me. I'm largely self taught and used notepad for the most part. I suppose if I move into HL2 stuff then I'll need to bite the bullet and buy Milkshape, do it all "properly"....
