Right, so the NS team came together and thought of a really good idea, 'I know', thought one 'let's create a game where one marine dude controls the lives of all the other dudes and makes him superior to all others'. 'Hurrah' everyone else shouts as they now have something they can develop over the next few months. 'Ermmm... But who gets to choose the commander?', asks one skeptical designer 'Why, the people of course' he replies. Of course.... The people.... Sure when we become commander but do we become good at it or not? Of course sometimes we have an amazing commander dedicated to bringing his troops home... But?? What if he's a dope? What then? Sure you can kick him out, but you need votes and on a number of servers people don't bother with that meaning the commander stays commanding....

Hmmm.... Think about that.

P.S. Check out this real cool website I found the other day:

Then they deserve every single thing they get because they don't vote <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

who is commander is often one of two types of people.

    1. He's the marine closest to the commander's console.

    2. He's the only one who is prepared to do it.

I think the most annoying thing about the commander for the marines is their predisposition to a certain game plan. Recently I find myself often in an empty hive begging the commander to build a turret factory or waypoint marines to my location. Yet he persists in building up an isolated resource point first. When he finally turns his attention to my situation a few minutes later, he either builds a resourcer first or he places a turret factory in a spot which gets me killed trying to build it. :Last time, having killed several skulks beforehand made no difference to this commander, in the six minutes I was at that hive I killed four skulks and in the final minute started building and was killed by two more trying to build. We then go on to let them have all three hives. Wahoo comm, good job!

I think I have most comtempt for commanders who just won't listen to advice, I'm not talking about "give me X comm!" but stuff like "We should build phase gates to and from that hive COMM" or "we should take a hive asap comm!" or even "motion tracking please chief!" then they complain that marines didn't follow orders and that's why we lost.
