<div class="IPBDescription">Animation for becoming and hatching from an egg</div>What would you guys think of an animation for becoming an egg and hatching from one. Since in NS1: *plop* your an egg...*plop* your an alien. It would be cool if the alien first goes in a droop like position and then morphes into an egg. Then, when hatching, the alien would climb out of the egg. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Playability > Realism on this one.

Would look better but seems as though it would have a negative effect on gameplay.

If it were set up so that the animation _finishes_ when the lifeform would normally be complete, it would have no effect on gameplay.

In the HL1 engine, of course, it would have a negative effect (with wonky hitboxes and such), and probably stretch the engine, but the source engine will probably be able to cope just fine.

By the way, the suggestion is: well, let me take a page from starcraft.

You know how when a zerg larva turns into an egg, then an egg bursts into the alien when it finishes? Yeah, that might be more preferrable to POP YOU'RE AN EGG POP YOU'RE AN ONOS

maybe its a hard work, i think its better to put an explode effekt to the egg.
Not an fire explosion, i mean an egg explosion, so the alien slash the egg to get out

having mapped some starcraft maps with the "special" tools, the egg actually just opens up and pops out the new thing, the egg doesn't actually turn into the alien <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

this idea is a great idea however, marines would be able to decypher what alien they are evolving into.

however, the different eggs should have different benefits as well. (more hp/ap for an onos rather than a lerk)
