catalyst packs

i think they are useless in ns ( 1 ). research is expense and they aren't well used. why do not make it like max pain " painkillers " ?! you catch one, you save it in your "backpack" so you can use it when you really need it. i think in that way they really can bring another impact to the game

    I agree, cat packs arnet really useful currently in ns, letting the marine carry the pack and use it when he feels like it is a cool idea to me. Of coure the marine would have a limit of how many he can carry (I'm thinking 1-3?).

    or just give a cat pak that gives SPESHIAL NINJA POWERZ, knife becoming your primary with range and damage increased. 8U (kidding here XD)

    Cat packs were designed to be similar to the Stim Packs from Starcraft (It was blatantly obvious, in the beta, it even did 25% of the marines total health in damage to them, which made it even more worthless)

    The difference between the life-saving stim packs and the cat packs is that the stim pack is 400% more powerful.

    Just make the cat packs more powerful -_-, you'll see how awesome they are. I don't know about being able to carry a catpack around though.

    Yeah, make them speed up reload, for example.
    Afaik this only isn't in ns1 due to issues with the reload animations.

    your reload is sped up currently?
    maybe make it just affect rate of fire and reload but not movement, and to a greater extent.

    i know that cata packs if overpowered can make a huge impact in the game so thats why i only sugested that use them like the painkillers in maxpain. its like the ns granades just need a little improvement. 4 or 5 seconds of catalyst is enough i think. imagine if you can choose the right time to use it should be greater <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> think about ambushing a fade ? 3 guys see him use catalyst pack and in some seconds the fade is down with out bothering the commander. or make a hive rush, 5 sg droped , 5 cata packs droped, and in some seconds hive down <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

    Hm... with the portable cat pack idea, pick up one in base, only place you can get em. carry around untill needed, use when needed, still having the same effect/duration that it does now. maximum of one.

    If they could be dropped anywhere i can imagine some severe laming going on.

    I see none of you have been chased by a onos while carrying a fully reloaded hmg, the catalyst saves lives. It's not the items fault it's commanders for not applying in proper situations.

    To carry it yourself is a idea but I think that would make it way to powerful. The meant con for cata is that they are suposed to be uncertain, but powerful when given right. Removeing that con would increase hive rushes by 800% or so for the 100% gain in effieciency and accuracy when used. IE JPs dont need to land and wait for the comm to place a drop on them.

    yeah i know what impact that catalyst packs can make, and thats its my point, you dont need to lower the fades armor or speed, lerk dive speed, skulk armor or onos regeneration rate bla bla bla, just adjust some points in rines to be a balanced game. i guess if they change the actual catalyst that will give some new and cool tactics to the commanders. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
