Scent Of Fear

and Why it's Good
I'm a big fan of Scent of Fear. Maybe it's just my play style, but SoF can be even more effective than cloaking at times. What makes it so wonderful is that it basically means that EVERY weapon works like parasite. Very useful for seeing prey approaching (you can set up ambushes just as well as cloaking ) and great for spotting those bloody jetpack marines. Well... having said that it's like every weapon is parasite I don't really need to say much more, since (hopefully) everyone knows how incredibly useful parasited targets are

Well, I use Scent of Fear over cloaking in most cases, except when I'm a Skulk, I just listen to footsteps of Marines. SoF has a dazzling effect when you're a Fade and its usually not used until late game though, being that most people don't build sensory chambers until the last Hive is up, limits its full use somewhat, but it is a great ability to have.

SoF is great for laying siege to areas as fade. Jump in, shoot everyone, jump out. Next time you jump in, you know where everyone is, so you can kill them more effectively.

I find cloaking more useful on most occasions though.

I always get sent of fear, now that i dont need cloaking to kill the guys. All cloaking will allow you to do is get the jump on them, and scent of fear allows you to do that even better!

I'm going to try it out a lot more. I rarely use cloaking any way.

An intersting side effect of Scent of Fear is that it allows you to see if your prey has just received a med pack, since it disappears from your hive sight upon regaining full health.

Hehehehe, hell yeah... a lerk can just sit right outside of marine spawn and keep the entire team occupied by spamming spore clouds into the base.

My favorite alien class would have to be lerk with adren, scent of fear, and regen.... w0000 you can last for a long time.

When does a unit show up on SOF? when its injured at all? 75% health? anyone know?

    Whenever they're injured at all.

On lerks: that is SO HILARIOUS. If you've ever played ns_11th_hr, you know that there's a little room near the marine spawn, where the CC is. Often when the marine base is under seige from the aliens, all the marines retreat to that little room. Sporing that room is HILARIOUS. You fire one spore cloud, and bing! up come the circles

Not that I'm complaining - Scent of Fear is an incredibly powerful upgrade - but, based on the game manual's description of Scent of Fear, you'd think that it'd be possible to tell the difference between a slightly injured enemy and a nearly-dead marine. Unfortunately this doesnt seem to be the case. =/

Yes, it would be nice if they had different chades of color show about how wounded an enemy was so that you could pounce on the weakest member. As it is, as a Fade, I listen for "Need a medpack", then spam the hell out of the marine that just asked for one. Mwahaha!

Marine: I need a medkit, stat!

    *splash*

me on public chat: cancel that medkit, commander.

SoF is nice. Adren, regen, cloak for the breaking of the defenses, adren, regen, SoF for the mop up. So useful for finding that hiding marine in the vents.

One question: if one alien has SoF and is in range to detect an injured marine, does he show up on hivesight for everyone else?
