    Not because they can't be, though.
    Just keep the kind of gameplay that exists in those mods in mind when you think about the size of the maps. They could be like 4 times bigger(in each direction, so to speak) if they wanted to, but it wouldn't be any fun to play, as you can't traverse the map fast enough - camp at bomb spot/cap point or lose the game for the defenders.

    Valve saw all those crap Zombie mods being thought up on the release date of HL2 and obviously kept making a decent Zombie game in mind I see.     While it would be awesome if someone would make that resident evil/gta/hl game I doubt it will ever happen. Odds are this one ends up like it started off, two guys and a buncha terrorists with knives.

    Every zombie mod for CS I've played is basically, find a glitch in the map and use it for cover. Annoying as hell, specially that unlimited ammo ish, I mean WTH!??! Zombies aren't scarey when you have bullets. It's when you run out that fear sets in.


    Zombies RULE!

    Except that you can't win if you find an "exploitable spot". You need to get to the end of the map. The game will keep spawning zombies at you as well so it won't be a walk in the park ever.

    That and the zombies appear to be new-age Dawn of the Dead running zombies. And there's crazy Resident Evil-style Licker monsters, among other things, which would essentially prevent you from camping. The dynamic-ish AI tweaking and game experience does sound cool...along with the fact you can go down fighting, hoping a team mate will help you out. Plus the 'respawn' system of the survivors finding people in boarded up in closests and stuff sounds promising...if it works how I think it sounds like it works.

    ZP is still going. They got their ###### into gear just after I left the team, they've had like a bunch of media releases on PHL.

    Also, I keep lolling at the 4 in the name. Might as well have gone the whole way and called it L3FT 4 DED!!!111one

    I sure hope this <a href="http://www.purevolume.com/left4dead" target="_blank">band</a> doesn't catch wind of this and then decide to melt Valve's faces with Mind Blowing... Adrenaline pumping...Soul Scorching music .

    Ouch. It's like watching The Office. Funny but painful.

    Zombies + Coop + CS devs + Source = a potentially awesome brain explosion goulash. I cannot get enough of coop (somehow the worst coop games are better than most solid MP games), and here's to this not sucking. Has anyone found any solid info beyond 'coming soon'?

    Almost any game can be made awesome with the addition of coop. Serious Sam is a passable game at best before you factor in coop. Afterwards it's rollicking fun for the whole family.

    It's surprising the amount of fun that can be had playing "Zombie-Strike: Source". It's a little serverside script for CS:S. It populates the opposing team with mindless bots and forces them to use only the knife. Super-fun with a few mates.

    Summary for the old man who can't read so much:

    -4 player co-op
    -goal to is to reach a location (ie. extraction point)
    -zombies keep spawning, so camping isn't going to work so well with limited ammo
    -fast zombies, not the slow lumbering type
    -even once you get surrounded by zombies, you can fall onto your back and keep firing hoping once of your friends will save you at the last second
    -some enemies blow up when killed causing damage (hint: more than one type of zombie)
    -there was talk of one really BIG zombie as a boss
    -zombies are AI driven, but there was mention that people can control them as well
    -built on Source
    -no release date

    There were 5 zombie types mentioned. Your shambler zombie, basically average except they run around instead of shambling. The licky-guy or whatever, who picks up players with his tongue. The giant fat person ripped from DooM3, or at least he would have been if they hadn't of added his abilities to belch acid vomit and to explode when killed. The weak, scout-skulk sort of zombie, that apparently does hit and run attacks. Finally, the boss zombie who's crazy powerful.

    I hope they do the usual regarding modding and mapping options? Nothing rocks a zombie coop game's face off like replayability.

    (They did not know much. Things were a bit hazy as far as phones go as well, and computers were right out).

    The system isn't one where you evolve from zombie to zombie.

    There are actually only 4 zombie types which you play as (all of them but the "mindless" zombie).

    90% of the times the computer only allows you to spawn as the Hunter, Smoker, or Boomer. On rare occassions it will let you spawn as the Tank (probably once maybe twice per map depending on the situation). The spawn system even decides what types the player can spawn as, as well. In fact, IIRC it will put a limit on the number of types of zombies on there so you all can't be Hunters or something. This is obviously used to create a mix of zombies and make sure they all don't overwhelm the survivors with one class.

    Also, the zombies are actually weaker than survivors obviously. In fact, the only points zombies get are for hits cause you will rarely ever kill players (obviously for survivors you get points for kills and such).

    I'm in full agreement with you guys. There simply aren't enough good coop games out there! I remember playing 3 player Serious Sam (which has zero storyline but fun for a few hours anyway) and Sven Coop. Btw, I didn't realise SS2 had a coop patch! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> This is one of the major disadvantages between consoles and pcs imo. Coop Halo was so good when it came out..ahh

    coops are good but hard to make hidden and dangrous also has coop
