<div class="IPBDescription">Sensors and Cameras</div>A Marine might be able to carry a camera (insert upgrade level/buildings here).
While it's on your person it operates as a helmet-mounted camera with a normal 60-90 degree field of view facing forward. Your pals can bring up a view of what you see, and flip between teammates (sort of like in HLTV). That way your buddy going around the corner operates as a more efficient scout and a team racing back to the spawn to defend a rush has a rough idea of what the survivors last saw before being savaged. Plus it's just scary to pop-up your buddy-cam HUD and see a skulk flying into his face.
However, you can give all this up by detaching your camera and placing it on the map - now it's a permanent sensor (unless destroyed, you respawn, not sure) that the Commander can use as 'eyes in the sky' and see kahara in range. Good for early warning - maybe does audible alert too?
Kinda risky idea - might give players too much autonomy and make the commander less relevant. Also a tad redundant to minimap. But I don't care, it's immersive and James Cameron Aliensesque. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
Not sure, poke holes.

I'm all for Camera's, it's not only usefull but also visually appealing.
The most common response is probably that this unbalances the games in favour of your marines but if you would make a model of a marine holding a small screen so that aliens can see when a marine is watching a cam then they are a helpless prey. cause if you are looking to the other player's screens then you are not focussed on your surroundings.
Every time i play a new map i'm an easy target for skullks cause i'm constantly watching my minimap and not watching my surroundings. The same situation would go for cam's
If you don't want any disadventage to the commander then make the cams only viewable to the commander.
Cause on a 30 player server, he's not going to watch all 15 cams and too much cams would make them useless. but it could be usefull to keep an eye on marine start, resnodes and hive lockdowns. Commander would be able to turn off/on the cams he likes to see.
And if marines really want to see it give them a structure or something that displays the cam's on a structure in base So they know what to expect before they phase in. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
There is another thread about cam's, maybe you would like to read it.
