is it really necessary that each one be a play on para? lol.
seems cool though, but would a skulk have all these abilities? i could see a lot of abuse with an ability like para-lysis, 5 seconds is too long of a time and would hurt marines especially in the early game. Para-noia is an interesting concept, but did you know that the makers of internal darkness copyrighted in-game insanity? yes its true.

yes, but it doesnt define insanity to eve detail, and you could work around that not calling it insanity
Secondly that would be like someone copy writing the word "the" and suing everyone who used it.. there are ways around everything copyrighted or not lol
Say for instance, it wouldnt be making the marines insane, rather impairing their hearing making them think they heard the footsteps or something.. either way copyrighted or not the game can define it as something else besides going insane and they would be fine imo.
I Remember the onos having paralysis back in the day. they changed it to stomp which i prefer.
If it hits you in the head, you get stunned for a few seconds. It could just blur the screen slightly, nothing drastic. You can still walk around fine.
That would be uber.

I think thats a great idea. It would really confuse marines. add some onos foot steps in and the marine would be like "OMGWTHBBQ AN ONOS IN THE FIRST MINUTE!!!!!111111oneoneoneleveneleven"

stupid examples
Other marine friends can shoot the parasite and remove it (funny in friendly fire mode <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> )
I think if a marine shoot a friend, they will look at him, the other marine walk around him and ... like benny hill right <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
Hehehe a glowing yellow Halo above a marines head like a dead man walking.
With para-noia it can last a long long time, maybe 3-4 minutes and every 15-30 seconds or so you hear skulk sounds or a fade blink or even a lerk flap in random spots, either behind you in front above etc.. it wouldnt hinder the gameplay that much, but it can help skulks that are sneaking up on people if they can mask their movement with it, but still allow the marine, if hes smart, to function. As for the blurred vision and the wobbling screen movement, it would be nice for maybe 3-5 seconds, and hitting with another wouldnt have the same effect, anything more would be overdoing it and would be annoying and get old very fast.
The main reason i dislike the paralysis is because like stomp and web, whenever your caught, no matter how good you are, or how many people you have with you, your pretty much down the river without a paddle, especially if every 5 seconds or so the skulk just keeps using it.
Would this make parasite over powered ? or a really good ability at 3 hives ?
Para-Noia^2!
What would it do? Well, quite simply, in addition to the sounds mentioned in the first post, it'd substitute the models of your fellow marines with Fade models. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
No, it just isn't a good idea. This is Natural Selection not Tactical Selection.

QFT.
Suggest this to the guys at intelligent design although make it a 2second not 5second delay and I reckon it could be considered <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

Anyway. This is a great idea so yeh <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
I know for a fact that when you play games with a lot of weapon/skill options, the new player often becomes confused; and it is first impressions that matter most in video games.
Seeing some new tactics available in NS2 would breathe a breath of fresh air into this game. Some new abilities and weapons would refresh this game, rather than making a glossy carbon copy.
The Aliens were one of the most complex FPS Teams I had ever played when I first started playing NS1, Sure marines were easy but thats because like most I had years of common FPS shooters behind me. Persistence paid off and now I love both teams equally. The alien team of NS1 set this game apart from other FPS's in my opinion. I would love to see some new features added to both teams arsenal.
New Players should RTFM ( Read the Manuel ) before ragging on it cause they don't understand or know what to do.
BTW Isn't there an auto help feature built into NS1 to help new players, I would expect the same thing for NS2 to some degree.
If a player was tagged with paranoia it could only react in proximity to infestation.
I think triggering the parasite when it's near creap is a GREAT idea.
