<div class="IPBDescription">Talk to people around you</div>Let's face it, NS requires good communication, and voice communication..... Im always talking on comm's... But quite simply, the comm and the rest of my team DONT need to hear me yelling about the railing and the lerk, and how to hop up and get him, or telling xxx that theres a skulk behind him, bla bla bla
Basically a whole lot of chatter thats important to the marines in the vacinity, but nothing other than a hassle to anyone else forced to listen
Proximity Comm's would be a second voicecomm button, that would allow you to talk ONLY to the people within, say, 30 feet of you (adjustible, im just using that as a reference)
That way, if your moving in a room with a bunch of people, you can talk constantly, co-ordinate, ect. While others can do it in a different "area" without crosstalk, annoying spammage, ect.
Yes? No?

it would also add to the atmosphere - especially with the great sound abilities that source has, if the voice actually sounded like its comming out of the player model and the mouth moved correctly depending on volume. So if you shout the mouth would open wider. which would be great if your getting eating and you start going NOOOOO. lol
never thought of it
Should also be a button that the com can press where ONLY HE CAN BE HEARD. all other comms are blocked out. That way really important issues can be clear and not clattered amoungst the rest of the team.
could be a little over used though.
but yeah haven two differnt voice comms would be primo
(haha that would actully be something fken fun to play around with. say an alien was walking past you when you were hiden and what not and u could make alittle noice you could use it in soooooo maby ways to ur addvantage tho and it would be kinda funny to have the skulks talking back to the marines haha..
so i dont know how u would get around that. but if theres a way to do it and make a legit way around it
would deffently be a highlight)

Interesting idea with the proximity voicecomm, just have your voice fade out after a certain distance unless your using the full team voicechat.
Personally, I think that while you should be able to communicate in the game world, the actual sounds the opponent hears should actually be just a muttering with no meaning. Khara are not going to understand english and visa versa.
So have the marines make a sound.. but only allow those of the same race understand what they are saying.
Although syncing the mouth to a players words would look awesome, it would probably cause a lot of lag, unless it was client side. Even then, I can't imagine that being an easy feet to implement correctly. IIRC, isn't that quite a few more bones that would have to be animated for every model? Like 40?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
TFC does a simple open/close animation with voice chat, and I doubt you would need to do the syncro as complex as HL2 SP, since multiplayer games are generally fast paced. So something in between would probably work fine.
We had this idea with RnL but what with people using TS and Vent it kind of undermines it.

You can't program for the cheaters. If people use Vent or TS, they are cheating IMHO and you can't stop it. But hopefully, by building this, people who don't will have the extra level of coolness. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
