Distress Beacon (BACON) in NS2

<div class="IPBDescription">because no1 likes to spawn in a bunch of OCs</div>In NS currently the distress beacon sends people back to marine start...so if someone relocates, the team just lost a huge defensive advantage.
For NS2, maybe it would be possible to calculate the area around an obs while it charges up the distress beacon and create valid spawn points for payers (so they dont spawn in walls, other players).
However, this would create a cheap strategy if not limited. Imagine comm drops an obs to a ninja marine near a hive. Builds it, does a beacon, whole marine team instantly transported no matter where they are to the hive.
To prevent this, maybe the obs would only allow a beacon if there was a comm chair and an ip or something nearby so you cant just beacon anywhere in the map without building a few other things. Or maybe its an upgrade if you want "target" the distress beacon to your location instead of marine start. So each time you move, if you wanna have distress beacon call ot where you are, you build an obs in the base and do the upgrade and the distress beacon "re-targets" to your location.

If people want long games to go on like in 2.0, relocations must be more reliable. Plus its always a bummer for one skulk to be in your relocated base chomping at phase gates, then IPs, then you jump out of comm chair to shoot him and he kills you....camps IPs etc etc no fun.
and when beaconed you beacon into a room of gestating eggs so you can have bacon and eggs

In addition, beaconing to an alien-controlled marine start can be quite effective. Everyone throws hand grenades and then fires off their weapons to kill all the alien structures. You quickly kill the alien rt, build your own, and move on. The aliens lose a lot more than the marines, as long as there are enough medpacks to kill the oc's before they kill you. This isn't a "base under attack, we need to save it" move though, just a random strategical move that I have seen work well.
Why not just link the obs to the command chair like the ip's are? That way the only way you can do an beacon rush into the middle of a hive, is if you set up a command chair first (which as we all know take forever to build D: ) making the advantage much less??
