<div class="IPBDescription">The High- and the Low-end graphics</div>I started this topic, because i wan to enjoy NS in it's full beauty, and i know that only a few options can be changed via options, and console commands are the soul of it. For start here's my low-end graphic options, that i used with a very old celeron, when my comp gone to heaven anno <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

I loved tweaking the hell out of my computer to make ns playable, until it died a month ago (RIP).
I got around 20-25 fps in action, 40ish standing still (OMGWOW!)
console commands, aside from the defaults
640 x 480, opengl, 16 bit
cl_autohelp "0"
cl_dynamiclights "0"
cl_highdetail "0"
cl_himodels "0"
cl_musicenabled "0"
cl_nosmooth "1"
cl_particleinfo "0" //turns off particle effects
cl_showfps "1" //shows fps
gl_fog "0" //does ns have fog?
gl_picmip "1" //any higher than 1 or 2 made ns less stable, setting to 4 (highest) crashed me repeatedly and looked ugly, at least at 680 x 480
gl_playermip "1"
gl_wateramp "0"
hud_centerid "1"
hud_fastswitch "1"
mp_decals "10"
r_decals "10" //which of these is the one that works again?
net_graph "3" //used to adjust rate and cl_updaterate
r_dynamic "0"
r_glowshellfreq "0" //???
r_mmx "1"
never bothered with gl_texturemode X, since it looked really ugly, but it increases fps i'm told
never messed with the sound settings, since high quality 3d sound is necessary
A lot of these commands didn't really do much or did nothing at all (placebo effect ftw)
The greatest thing I did to improve fps was get <b>custom low poly models</b> for structures, players, etc , downloaded from somewhere on this forum (search it, im lazy). I then wrote a batch script to easily swap all the custom files with the originals, in case of mp_consistency 1.
I still play at 640 x 480 on my new computer due to crappy integrated graphics (i'm a poor student)
That is a website with a lot of console commands that you could go through and tweak. It doesn't have EVERY command, though.
Anakin the s_ commands are numbers of polygons, the size of them, the distance you see(snipers FTW with low distance <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> ) and other very FPS rated things, but they are really for the "max 10FPS" comps
