Nexus, you mean. And yeah, that's going to ROCK HARD.

2 years of developement is very quickly. I think if they get a engine like Source it will took less than 2 years.
  • haymohaymo Join Date: 2005-01-09 Member: 34040Members, NS1 Playtester
If they're almost ready to release a TR then in 6 months they should have a beta atleast. imo

I still don't get the nexus. Any news on that?

    To Infinity and Beyond!

Regardless of the development time I think it is only logical to <i>evolve</i> and gun for NS2. One of the big divisive issues of NS was Competitive/Casual Play and porting NS into a shiny new graphics engine for NS:S will not solve anything. Might as well invest the blood, sweat, and tears into NS2 and try to resolve some of the fundamental issues right from the start.

I'm totally psyched and I would totally love to get involved this time around. I was a casual/pubbbing bystander that contributed to the forums but I would love to do some Mapping for NS2.

I'm totally excited about the future and seeing Flay work with an engine that isn't as constraining as HL. I think we are going to see some fireworks with NS2 and with everything we have learned from NS this will surely be a step up!

This isn't so much a discussion reply as a "Welcome Back NS" and "Onwards and Upwards" encouragement!

I was just looking at the game (Titan Quest) Max was working on. Did he really make the whole engine. If he did, the future of NS looks really bright. I'm so hyped. Is he a professional game programmer? I'm so glad you guys found one, because it seemed as if you always had enough developers except for the very core programmer which is essential, I hope.

Should be pretty amazing when it gets released, I still cant think of any game I was more fond of in the many years of playing original ns.

I just have to say that whatever happens in NS2, gorgies must stay the same. It's just not going to be the same with different gorge looks/movements.

He is professional, yes, but the Titan Quest engine runs badly on powerful computers and barely on bad computers. Not that I'm saying anything about him as a person, but still. It's slow as a dog.

Still the fact is that there is a very experienced programmer on the team.

I hope that in NS2 or other patches Fraya could make alien upgrades visable
ex: if u get cara. more armor would be visable, focus would make teeth sharper or something like that

Ditto, it comes nearly up on the side of diablo 2, which is an extradinary archievement. Diablo 2 was the definitive game, everthing else can only be measured by how much it falls short.

NS 3.2 and NS2 need 1 addition feature... an anti-xmenu mod feature.

Wow, excellent! This is really great news! I've been playing NS since 1.03, and I enjoyed every minute of it. You've made us all incredibly happy Flayra, thanks. Best wishes, and Godspeed on the new project <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

I'm VERY curious about the graphics engine NS2 will use. I want Source. Not a port, like NSS, but a whole new game. The Source engine is extremely scaleable and runs on nearly everything.

If you want as many people as possible to be able to run NS2 decently, pick that one.
  • SpaceJesusSpaceJesus Join Date: 2004-07-02 Member: 29683Banned
It will more than likely be on Source imo.

Whoa, after i quitted playing NS i started playing Titan Quest, and now i hear that max will be part of NS:source/NS2. Oh happy days! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Actually, Source is the best engine to make NS2, for many reasons:
    - Vissualy, it's one of the best graphics engines on the market.
    - Havok Physics engine is amazing.
    - It's hightly scalable, it runs pretty well on mainstrain and low-end pc.
    - Mapping development tools (hammer) are wel-known, and therefore comunity could make maps for NS2 more easy.
    - This engine is frecuently updated with new tecnologies that can be implemented in NS2 later.
