Question About Spotlights

<div class="IPBDescription">and editing them in the hammer</div> Okay so I've got my maps to compile and run <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> this is cool!

Now I have a question about spotlights, is it possible to see the projection cone from within the hammer so that I can edit where it points to and such? Or do you have to play with the numbers each time and test it in the engine to see what the result is? (latter seems rather tedious)

Thanks in advance,

Daveyboy

you have to just think of the angles in ur head mostly just trying things is best for HL <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

I was hoping it'd be easier than that like how you can position the target in 3dsmax or Blender.... ah well guess it's just one of those things I'll have to mess with....

I don't do this myself, but it could make it a little easier to guess how it'll look ingame if you set it to target an info_target.

you can tell it to target something, but that doesn't make the cone bigger or smaller i don't think... if you want a visible (as in cartoon you can see the cone in the air) light cone you have to use fade textures and brushwork...

No, telling the light_spot to target something doesn't change the cone size, but this would just be one less angle to estimate on.
