Wow, nice work guys. Roygbiv, that is a killer concept you have there. Here's some more feedback (I'm going to try to get Squeal in here as well):
- Sinter, I'm starting to think that instead of adding a border to the NS logo that removing the border from the Zen of Sudoku logo is the way to go.
- I think the starfield is a bit busy...I think less stars would be nicer. The stars should be in the background as well, behind the logos and text.
- I like Sinter's UW logo best...could that work in Roygbiv's?
- Roygbiv, is there a more sci-fi question mark you could use instead? I also think it would look better not inscribed in stars, but as using the same font/glow effect as the UW logo.
- I think that the star-arch behind Zen of Sudoku should be a faded out a bit and a little more subtle. It seems to be fighting a bit with the Zen of Sudoku text.

I like roy's zodiac-esque icons <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> It gives a cosmic reference to zen of soduko <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
Roy, I dont mean to be too nitpicky, but there would actually be less stars visible around the planet because of light reflecting off of it. I also think it would help to take out those stars to balance the banner better because as I see it, the left side is much busier than the right.

Does the question mark even need to be there? I think it would work better with just the NS and ZoS images and just the starfield where the question mark is now.
Flayra, despite your comments, I decided to leave the outlines on the NS and Zen logos. Instead, I toned down the Zen background to better match the rest of the logo. Also, I resized the Zen logo slightly smaller.
Anyways, here it is: <img src="http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/1227/zenlogo3av8.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />

How about instead of a question mark, just have the stars thin out after ZoS and have a small, but bright star in the darkness to kind of hint at the next game?
Or, keep the starfield the way it is, and make a blurr effect on the remaining stars after ZoS to give it the sense that the next game is "in the picture, but out of focus" ?

Not a bad idea. I tried it here with a star behind a planet like it's a new horizon.
That gets my vote. It <b>might</b> still be a little busy with the stars in some areas. (though I noticed a reduction, which is nice) It'd work excellently just like that though.

Nice work, RoyGBiv. I'd still try to tone down the stars (fewer stars?) and the nebula a bit.
I love what sinster's got going with the frame surrounding ZoS. Looks awesome. I wish I had the time to come up with something <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
RoyGBiv your most current version is brilliant, the planet and galaxy (i assume its a crop from a galaxy picture behind the unknown worlds logo?) really make it work.

Wow that looks ace. The final touch, maybe a star here and there (the small ones in the whole image) that (subtly) twinkles softly on and off randomly? Turn it into a .gif?
It will be real sublte, but give a little more character to the image? I'll reitterate, nothing that would detract from the main presentation, but just a glimmer here and there of the tiny stars that make up the background. Completely up to you though, I'm not sure if that would be seen as overboard.
EDIT: I'll try to find a reference pic to give you an idea of what I mean.
Like this except much slower. Here are some ideas with directions that could be taken:
1) If the planet isn't to your liking, make the area after ZoS a starfield like the rest of the picture, except have some of those small background stars glimmer. Kind of like its subtly hinting at something.
2) If you prototype the one above, you could also copy and paste some of the current background stars to make a "constellation" question mark similar to the previous attempts. It wouldn't be nearly as obvious as the previous question marks, but more of a constellation pattern in the sky like what you did with the ZoS logo, except with stars. You wouldn't want this question mark to be to similar to the ZoS version as it might clash.
3) Make a constellation question mark as described above, and make it the only thing glimmering object in the whole picture, to make it stand out more and interesting to look at. The way I envision it is this nice looking constellation-type question mark, with a few stars that are in this "question mark" constellation glimmering on and off. These stars would not necessarily blink all at once, but, one will glimmer in one corner of the question mark then go back to normal. Then another would glimmer on another part of it then dim, then another on another part of it etc... I hope I'm describing this well enough to get a mental picture.
The reason why I think the "constellation question mark" would look the best is because it matches the whole theme of the picutre, and it should get rid of the "this font looks like garbage" problem when using a normal question mark.
Roy, I think you've just not only took the whole cake, but the table and the cutlery with it!
Seriously, your latest is just brilliant. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":0" border="0" alt="wow.gif" />
