    I'd almost forgotten about this thing. Good to see it's still being worked on. The concept was awesome way back when I heard about it a year or so ago, and it's awesome now. And only a short time until release eh? Well, I know how much to trust release dates in the mod world, but it's nice to see that they're shooting for some time soon.

    Hopefully this is a source mod worth playing.

    Not that dystopia and The hidden arent; but too me they feel kinda "Meh".

    I cant play them the same way i play NS and other games, i look at them as more of a casual thing. Every once in a while.

    Dystopia is pretty solid, The Hidden gets boring quick and Empiresmod is a sack of crap (Bluntly put).

    Here's hoping for a Sauce mod with a bit more depth.

    About the release...

    It will include one map, but it technically is three maps in one...

    We have the Frigate portion, space, and Aethra maps... Each of them could technically be standalone, but we put three of them together, and it should be really frickin sweet... At least, that's the plan <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

    One thing that needs to be emphasized however, is that this is not our "1.0" release (though I think that is what we'll call it or else things would get confusing fast)... This is a beta. All of our ships and weapons won't be in. We are going to release patches as often as we can (hotfixes for crashes and bugs and balance very often, then every now and then we release more maps, weapons, and ships, etc)...

    We should have a trailer out this week showing off a bunch of gameplay. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> Expect that within the next few days (it's being rendered as I type and then we gotta decide if it's good or not or else we'll have to re-edit)

    I hope the server builds are stable...

    ...it seems like alot of source mods just dont feel "Right" when you get on a server. I can go on a server with 50 ping, and it will feel like crap for some reason.

    Last night I kept getting owned in dog fights in space to noobs... Specifically, the noob was Comprox <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> He is a tricky little space monkey. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/marine.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::marine::" border="0" alt="marine.gif" />

    About server stability, I haven't noticed any problems... It doesn't seem like it's acting any laggier than it should, nor does it crash or anything (or rather, it rarely does... nothing is perfect).

    I actually don't have a good mutlplayer space sim, and I haven't for god knows how long. Newtonian physics intrigue me, as I've actually NEVER played with them against another human being, and running around shooting people on a spaceship is icing on the cake, I guess. If only my joystick wouldn't randomly lose its calibration.

    You could use Key/Mouse... It works very well (though obviously Joystick is just a lot more natural to use...)

    About Newtonian flight, it's sort of tricky to learn at first (once you wrap your head around the concept of thrust instead of speed)

    Sorry I stopped hanging out at the forums Iced <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> Prerelease game communities just drive me nuts, too many fanboys who know little or nothing about game design/development running their mouth about alot of irrelevant crap. If I can't see the design document or play the game, and there isn't anything wrong with the screenshots of models and ui elements there just isn't much for me to talk about. I loved the media releases though, they looked really good.

    Having played ES briefly (A friend of mine is a tester and passed me a copy, with permission of course), I must say I'm impressed. The visuals are gorgeous and spaceflight could almost be its own game. Definitely worth checking out.
