Would It Be Better...

<div class="IPBDescription">...to have multiple commanders?</div> Would it be better to have a more commanders based on the number of players? Because in large games, the aliens usually win... e.g. for every 5 players, there can be 1 commander.

    No, and here's why:

    <!--c1--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>CODE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='CODE'><!--ec1-->Commander #1: Move to waypoint - Eclipse Command
    Player: Roger that.
Commander #2: Move to waypoint - Computer Core
Player: Huh? Which one do I choose?<!--c2--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--ec2-->

I don't think multiple Commanders is an option. Sorry.

And if there a primary commander, who can do everything. and 1 secondary, who can only spawn things?

You'll need two Command Consoles. Unless you want one to sit on the other's lap. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
I still don't see this being implemented into Natural Selection. The only time you're going to see two Commanders is in Marine vs. Marine scenarios.

This would not work. If you want to organize things, appoint COs from your marine body and have them do some of the actual leading.

Any more than 1 commander wouldn't work.

There are NCO threads all over the place and in some games, you'll find Marines with "command presence". Just because they're out there in the dirt and you have godlike distancing doesn't mean they're dumb and don't know what to do. Have faith in your Marines, they may surprise you.

All thats needed is a little icon that the C can place on a marine that all other marines can see that will designate ranking officers.

Hmm. I kinda like TheDamage's idea. Being able to promote a few good marines would make life simpler for everyone.

There was a thread on this earlier... someone saying that ns should implement the Tribes 1 style 'higher ranking personnel" that would lead grunts into battle.. but in most games of ns I've played, this sort of thing happens informally, with "all you guys follow me".

I've posted in way too many NCO threads myself, None of them were sticky'ed so..

At any rate, promotions might fall apart rather quickly (despite their merit and worth), people might fight over them. Favoritism may also be a problem as well, not to mention the blame people throw like rocks I think I'll just stick with undesignated squad leaders. Rather than having a combat leader saying, "Let's split up, we'll cover more ground." I'll be looking maniacally for the Skulk when that day happens..

Hmm. I just remembered something from the manual, from the description of motion tracking. In went something like "...the position of all marines is well know at all times..."

Would it be too hard to make this a reality? Motion tracking has made finding enemies easier than finding allies. At least some sort of commander-appointed CO detection would be kinda nice.
