About to buy one... again...
Okay, so I've finally paid off my 42" LCD HDTV I bought back in March. Paying off $3000 in just 5 months is a pretty good feat in my opinion. :P
And so now, I'm wanting to continue adding on to my living room of pwn.
For awhile I was considering getting a Mac Mini as they actually do look pretty damn sexy. But I thought of what it'd be time-wise to get it equivilant to a Windows-based media center, and it just isn't worth the $300 or so I'd save.
Plus I'm still in love w/ the Windows Media Center UI. It's so damn sexy.
For those that don't remember, I've bought one of these before. Back in March I got a crappy 4:3 CRT HD monitor and a Sony Vaio media center PC. Long, long, long story short, never buy a 4:3 HD television, and media centers don't play well with CRTs. I ended up returning both and combining the budgetted money to get my current TV of omfgpwn.
The media center I'm lookin at getting is just the same one again. It's a Sony Vaio Media Center PC. And this time I have more experience w/ the things so I know what to expect.
And this time my plans have grandiosed a bit. Now that I've got a Bluetooth enabled Windows Mobile phone (as opposed to my non-bluetooth one from before), I'm gonna get a bluetooth adapter for the PC so that way my contact list, task list, and other stuff automagically syncs w/ my phone whenever I come in from work each day. Spiffarific! Also I'm looking into a bluetooth wireless keyboard and mouse, but there's also a 2.4ghz (better range) version of the same old wireless keyboard mouse I had last time, which I definately liked.
I dunno. This is kind of an impulse buy, but also kinda not, because I never really stopped wanting one, I was just waiting till I paid off the HDTV. And now its paid off. Besides, its my birthday in a week and a half and I need to treat myself to a present. ;D
Of course I also won't have any qualms of returning the thing if it doesn't work exactly as I want. heh.
[edit]
I guess the other thing to do w/ the money would be upgrade my main PC. After all its a lowly 2.4ghz, and is starting to show its age in games. For even less money than I'm prepared to sink tommorrow I could get a very good upgrade. But really when its not even gonna be a 1ghz jump it feels like a bit of a waste. Plus I already to run everything I want in at least medium res, so what's the point? I think I wanna wait 6 months or so.
