As you do the small figure lets out a groan, and steps closer towards the moon's light. You see in it's eyes pure rage, and a small hole in the side of it's face, through which you can see the inside of it's mouth. It looks like maggots have been feasting on the man's face. He is holding a pickaxe.

** You examine the computer.
The Blue Screen of Death is displayed.
Chrono says:
i have such a urge to shoot the computer but its a waste of ammo continue down the corridor
Hicks says:
** You head down the coridoor.

You are now standing in the main corridor of Fort Malton's Barracks. Numerous doors, all locked litter the sides. Exits are to the north end of the corridor and the South.
Chrono says:
look to the north end
Hicks says:
** You look North. You see a computer server room.
Chrono says:
exit south and go up stairs
Hicks says:

Hicks says:
You are now at the landing of a set of stairs. Your progress is blocked by a weak barricade of wood.
Chrono says:
attempt to break teh weak barricade
Hicks says:
** You smash the **** barricade.
Chrono says:
continue up
Hicks says:
** You go UP.
Hicks says:
The second you reach the top of the flight of stairs, a man in combat fatigues opens the door to your right. He aims his L-85 at your forhead and demands your name.
Chrono says:
you drop your weapon put your hands up and tell him you dont remember anything
Hicks says:
** You drop your primary weapon.
The man in the combat fatigues keeps his weapon raised, and demands your name.
Chrono says:
tell him your name is 2nd LT joseph smith
Hicks says:
The combat fatigue-clad man in the doorway whacks you in the face with the butt of his rifle. You stagger. He demands you tell him your name and warns you not to lie again. He makes various remarks about your lack of military attire and the way your knees look weak.
Chrono says:
apologize and tell him your name is joseph smith but your not in the military
Hicks says:
The man pushes you to the ground and searches for weapons, while his boot is pressing on your back, hard. He finds your purse. "What the **** do you carry a purse for?" He muses. He strips you of:
Hicks says:
* pocket knife
* grenade
* pickaxe
Hicks says:
** He picks up your L-85
Hicks says:
The man asks you how you got in here.
Chrono says:
explain to him you found the dead soldier by the gate and you needed to find refuge so you opened the gate and walked in
Hicks says:
** Acceptable explanation.

The man releases you. You get a good look at the man. He is dark skinned of African origin and is wearing a full face gas mask. His helmet covers the top of his head. He is wearing a kevlar vest and has various military grade equipment attached to his combat webbing. You read the name on his uniform: "Van Lewen" He still has his weapon raised, but looser now. He tells you to move it into the corridoor to your right.
Chrono says:
move into the corridoor to the right
Hicks says:
** You go right, with Van Lewen right behind you.

You are now in another main corridoor on the second floor. There are various doors on each side of the corridoor, most of them open. He tells you to go through the far right door.
Chrono says:
enter the far right door
Chrono says:
well?
Chrono says:
PC error?
Hicks says:
** You enter.

As soon as you enter the room, you sense an air of superiority. A 4 Lieutenant Colonel is sitting behind a desk, with a M9 Beretta resting on it, as well as a laptop computer.
Hicks says:
Two secs.
Hicks says:
Remove that 4
Chrono says:
k
Chrono says:
ask van lewen "now what?"
Hicks says:
someone keeps msging, hold on.
Chrono says:
k
Chrono says:
ill brb
Hicks says:
Van Lewen enters the room and closes the door. You can see in the light of the room there's a blood splatter on the left side of his combat fatigues. The Lieutenant Colonel has a look of dismay on his face. He gets up, picks up his pistol. You gulp, thinking you are a goner, however he holsters it. You look back at Van Lewen who is standing to the left of the door, assault rifle held accross his chest. The Lieutenant Colonel speaks:
Hicks says:
"I apologise for Van Lewen here's welcome, but as you no doubt know it's necessary. I'm Lieutenant Colonel Hagerty, and I'm in charge here. And you are?"
Chrono says:
tell him your name is joesph smith
Hicks says:
** You say "Joseph Smith."

The Colonel looks apathetic. "So tell me Joseph, why exactly didn't you evacuate the city when the APC's, Choppers, whatever came down your street?"
Chrono says:
tell him you dont remember anything you just woke up and the entire city was empty
Hicks says:
The Colonel frowns. He nods to Van Lewen, who exits the room hurridly. The Colonel speaks:
Hicks says:
"What's the last thing you remember?"
Chrono says:
watching the superbowl with my wife
Hicks says:
"And then what happened?"
Chrono says:
i remember hearing a noise and a sharp pain to my neck then i dont remember anything
Hicks says:
"Did you wake up in your house?"
Chrono says:
no i was near the statues with the horse
Hicks says:
"You mean the monument up front?"
Chrono says:
yeah the one with the guys ashes
Chrono says:
near the park
Hicks says:
"Well, I've got some bad news for you, Joseph. I'm not sure whether you are aware of this or not, but the whole city is under quarintine."
Chrono says:
why what happened?
Hicks says:
"There's been an outbreak of some type of virus somewhere up North, they're calling it 2068. They say it's airborne, and we're all infected."
Hicks says:
The colonel seems reluctant to tell you this.
Chrono says:
ask him if there is anything you can do to help
Hicks says:
"I'm afraid there isn't much that we can do. Other cities further from the source of the outbreak say they're working on a cure, but it could be years."
Chrono says:
ask him for your equipment back
Hicks says:
"Have you ever served in the armed forces, an undercover cop, even in a gun club?"
Hicks says:
"What I'm asking you is can you handle yourself?"
Chrono says:
tell him you used to be a swat officer and explain to him that youve fired many weapons
Hicks says:
Then we'll get you to cover one of the entrances. We've only got four men left."
Van Lewen enters. He hands you back your equipment, looking uncomfortable about this.
Hicks says:
The Colonel speaks:
Hicks says:
"Van Lewen will take you to the back entrance's window."
Chrono says:
grin like a retard at van lewen and tell him to lead on
Hicks says:
Van Lewen exits, and you hear him mutter under his breath "****". He removes his gasmask as you follow him. You see the face of a hardened Sergeant, with bulging muscles. He speaks:
Hicks says:
"Here, you do what we tell you to do, got that? Even Private Weyland outranks you."
Hicks says:
He jerks his thumb at a soldier running past.
Chrono says:
say "yes sir!" in a **** voice
Hicks says:

Hicks says:
You reach the window covering the back entrance. He tells you to stay put. "If you see any ****, call us on this:" He throws you a radio handset.
Chrono says:
ready your L-85 make sure all your gear is together and look out the window for any ****
Hicks says:
You rest your weapon on the windsill, while sitting on a footlocker, ready. You scan the horizon.
Chrono says:
keep waiting
Hicks says:
Time Passes.
Chrono says:
look around see if anything has changed
Hicks says:
You scan the horizon. All Clear.
Chrono says:
check in on the headset and make sure everyone is still ok
Hicks says:
You radio: "Check in"
"Van Lewen, check"
"Kimble, check."
"Weyland, check."
"Dawson, check."
Chrono says:
search the footlocker your sitting on while still keeping one eye out the window
Hicks says:
The Footlocker is locked, but feels empty anyway.

** Time Passes.

You see a small figure on the horizon, outside the walls of the Fort.
Chrono says:
use the radio to explain what you see
Hicks says:
You radio.
You hear Van Lewen's voice: "Everyone keep positions, I'm gonna check it out."
Hicks says:
You hear running.
Chrono says:
say "roger that MR BIG MAN" in a **** voice
Hicks says:
Van Lewen arrives and looks through the scope on his L-85.
He mutters: "****."
Hicks says:
Van Lewen fires a single shot.
Chrono says:
ask him what it is
Hicks says:
You see the figure fall.
Chrono says:
and grab his ****
Chrono says:

Hicks says:
Van Lewen lowers his weapon and pulls up binoculars from his neck.
Hicks says:
** Don't know how to "grab ****"
Chrono says:
ask him what the hell that thing is
Hicks says:
Van Lewen speaks: "One of them. There's bound to be more on the way." He radios, not facing you, and you miss what he says. "Aim for the head."
Van Lewen exits.
Hicks says:
Chrono
Chrono says:
ask on the radio "one of what you *** hater"
Hicks says:
chrono
Chrono says:
yeah
Hicks says:
I gotta go.
Chrono says:

Hicks says:
Post it on the forums.

See, now, we could have in depth text based games like this, we'd just outsource the job of the computer program to some guy in India. It would be awesome!

You are now standing in the main corridor of Fort Malton's Barracks. Numerous doors, all locked litter the sides. Exits are to the north end of the corridor and the South.

you drop your weapon put your hands up and tell him you dont remember anything
    Hicks says:
    * pocket knife
    * grenade
    * pickaxe

    Hicks says:
    Time Passes.
    Chrono says:
look around see if anything has changed
    Hicks says:
You scan the horizon. All Clear.
    Chrono says:
check in on the headset and make sure everyone is still ok
    Hicks says:
    You radio: "Check in"
    "Van Lewen, check"
    "Kimble, check."
    "Weyland, check."
    "Dawson, check."
    Chrono says:
search the footlocker your sitting on while still keeping one eye out the window
    Hicks says:
The Footlocker is locked, but feels empty anyway.

    ** Time Passes.

You see a small figure on the horizon, outside the walls of the Fort.
    Chrono says:
use the radio to explain what you see
    Hicks says:
    You radio.
You hear Van Lewen's voice: "Everyone keep positions, I'm gonna check it out."
    Hicks says:
    You hear running.

May i ask but did you jus make it up as you went along or what?
I relly wana do stuff like this, such as D&D but i dont like the idea of spending hours designing a map, monsters and all of that crap.

Did you have an actual plot you went with, as in if he didnt go you knew what was going to happen?

    Aye, captain.

Once chrono skipped the hole I knew exactly what I was doing. I made sure I got direction right by re-reading stuff. A map is much better though, if you're going to do it. Also keep an inventory list.

Did you use a txt file to store all the phrases you knew you were going to say more than once, Hicks? Just curious. I wonder if there's any way to make it easier for you to do this. Making a TXT file would probably be one way. It can hold the inventory, the locations, etc.

Its kinda funny that people are rediscovering paper and pencil role playing games as variations of text based adventures that were inspired from the role playing games.

Hmmm... isn't there an IRC channel for this kind of stuff? It seems sort of fun.
And you know, I felt a bit stupid when I realized I was reading about someone else doing a text adventure.

    How would you do fights?
Cause there must be a roll or somthing otherwise you could jus decide "oh well lets kill him now" or you can let him kill the person he is fightning, How would i do this?

    Why yes.

I did actually use a dice program I made for the chance to hit.

2 or higher = hit on a stationary object.

    Chrono got 1.

I expect it wouldn't work very well with more than 2 people in one chat ... maybe combine the worlds but have them in seperate chat panels and the GM relays information?
