OLO TRY AND CONTACT US, DON'T JUST GRANDSTAND JOO NOOB!!!!!

    JOO SUX!!!!!!
NEXT TIME SEND ME A PM ON THESE FORUMS JOO NOOB!!!!!!!!

and then goes on to explain they will roll back the accounts, and the 'worst' that could hapen is you have to respend your selections.

I have weapons unlocked, this is such **** that they're going to rollback my account and destroy all the work that I put into it because they were lazy shits and didn't fix holes. I HATE YOU EA.

    no

because the WORST that could happen is that you have to respend your unlocks.

now, is losing your unlocks/awards worse or better then having to respend them?

Rollbacks mean you might lose the things you have earned since the hackers unlocked all your weapons. Annoying, yes, but you do not lose everything.

To me, winning is fun. Fun is winning.

Being the best is fun. Having something you're proud of and that you've accomplished is fun.

    Losing is rarely fun.

    Ding. ding. ding.

I think I've played on a Ranked server maybe 3 times. Hell I haven't even bothered to look and see if I was one of the lucky unlockees. Oh wait, that's cause I can use ASE to filter for servers w/ Global Unlocked turned on any time I wanna use em... :P

The problem is, the fix to this hacking event caused a lot of connection/startup problems (see the last post in the linked thread to see a moderator message).

Don't worry, anyway: from what the people have said who've had their weapons unlocked, you're not missing much.

If anyone happens to know specifics of how this technically happened, keep them to yourself. Limit discussion to the implications of the incident on BF2 itself. Anymore will get the thread locked/moved.

It is, but it's not a versatile class to play. You've got a fat, slow dude wearing a million pounds of ceramic and kevlar, a huge gun that only works when you're lying down, some grenades, and ammo packs that people never use anyway. Sure, it's a massive improvement over the M249 and RPK-74, but the class itself isn't a great deal of fun to play. Medics, anti-tanks, and others get cool alternatives to their weapons and get to have some real fun doing their class roles.

I don't even think the PKM is the biggest improvement over an original class weapon; the DAO-12 is the only unlock that's a completely different kind of small arms weapon (in my opinion, that makes the unlock a hell of a lot cooler), and it'll rip the face off of any infantry you spot. You can hop, roll, weave and generally be an annoying jackass, and you don't even have to think about aiming to demolish some poor bastard with that beast. Add in a highly effective rocket launcher, and you win.

That said, I'm still glad I picked my L85. I like playing the medic more than the other classes, and the L85 extends my range and generally makes me stay alive longer so I can heal more people. To me, scraping some sorry Private's privates off the pavement with my shock paddles is just as satisfying, if not more so, than plastering said private to said pavement with aforementione street sweeper.

The user explained it in the first post. He knew of a security flaw that would allow unauthorized access, and he says he warned EA Games about it. They did nothing, so he used the flaw to his advantage, and gave thousands of users complete access to all weapons.

The admin/moderator then responded that he never heard of it, and should have been contacted before this "grandstanding" occurred. He said everything would be reverted within the next day. It was uncertain how much would be required to fix the problem. He wasn't sure if users would have to be rolled back to before the hack, whether the previously non-hack user-unlocked weapons would be reopened of it the user would get to choose new weapons, or whether everything would work out with no problems whatsoever.

Think about this for a second guys. They know it only effected peole within a certain range. Most likely all this server has on it is a gigantic spreadsheet. Where each row is a persons name, and each column pertain to a certain award or how much xp somebody has. They just go to the columns that pertain to weapon unlocks for the people that were effected, and set all unlocks to "0". Then next time somebody logs on who was effected, the server senses that they don't have the unlocked weapons and doesn't allow them to use them. If said person was high enough to have unlocked a weapon, then the server sees that, but also sees that they haven't chosen an unlock, so it asks them to chose. It's not that hard...

From my understanding, not much was required to revert the problem. If you read a little bit down, another user explains a quick and simple way to fix it.
