<div class="IPBDescription">Now what?</div> Good for me. Now what? This may be a late start, lol.

I've been wanting to get into competitive NS for quite some time. However I don't have the slightest idea how CAL and/or UGL work and asking is rather intimidating. Is there any one that can explain how the seasons, map selection and brackets work, or point me in the direction of a website that can?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I hope I put this in the correct forum.

    Well, the next season of CAL starts this coming week if I'm not mistaken. The admins select eight maps for the eight week season and each team plays an alien and marine half on the map during their matches. Matches are usually on Sundays at 5:30 PST (default time) and teams only get paired with teams in their respective bracket (omega for the lower bracket and delta for the upper bracket.) Each team's wins and losses contributes to their standing which contributes to their ability to go into the playoffs at the end of the season which are elimination rounds that result in the champion team for a bracket being declared.

    As for joining a team, drop by the #farmteams channel on gamesurge and check the channel topic for current farm teams that are recruiting or leave a post in the Clan Recruitment forum on these forums or the Official Recruitment Thread sticky on the <a href='http://forums.caleague.com/index.php?showforum=13' target='_blank'>CAL Forums</a>. After that, just find a team and pursue them. Idle in their vent and irc channel and ring for them in scrims to show them what you've got.

    Sorry, but I haven't a clue how the UGL works, I haven't been a part of it. But good luck in joining the competitive scene, man. Hope you enjoy it.

    Well, your first step is to dl mIRC if you have not already and log into the gamesurge server. From there join #findnsscrim and especially #farmteams. Start talking in those channels and check out www.caleague.com for league info.
