    If you are afraid that unknown people will get their hands on the source, then maybe you can appoint a team which will continue work on this map. Then send out the links or even a passworded .zip file to the team members.

    I wont give it away to people that think in "siege" dimensions -_-

    I just looked around the source a bit, and holy cow, I'm not surprised you never finished this thing. The attention to detail is absolutely unbelievable. I'm in awe. I can't believe the texturing in this thing, and with hammer? You have far more patience than I. When I'm texturing things, I just slap it on, get it facing the right direction, then just align it to whatever edge makes it look best. Looking through this thing, it seriously looks like every brush was created specifically for the texture that's applied to it.

    I don't even know where to begin to add to a map like this. Its phenomenal. The one thing I worry about is the width of some of the hallways. I think competitive players might **** about them a bit, but I haven't compiled the map and walked through it, so I'm not sure.

    What is the source of the textures for this? They are awesome! (with the exception of the green signs, which suck.)

    I'm also worried at the possibility of keeping a map like this within the limits of the engine. You've got a ton of detail brushwork that might be better of done through models, although it looks sweet like this. (Individual wires and strings of infestation? holy hell.) I'm also worried about the possibility of creating an entire hiveroom keeping up the level of detail that you have put in to the infestation so far.

    All that said, this is flipping unbelievable. Touching this brushwork makes me feel like a big clumsy oaf handling a fragile ivory carving.

    Well, Thanks Moultano :)

    Yes i also think that competitive players will **** about it ??? , that was also why i've stopped the develpoment of this map...I think it's far too much cramped for this "competitive play"...
    That's sad because it was started from a good intention as theses guys said that ns_agora was too wide open...so logically i've made this one more cramped, but it's TOO MUCH cramped i guess...(damn it's hard to find the perfect "balance").
    So well, the Offices was 1 of the room that I had planned to redo to break up the Crampiness of the map..(eek my english).

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->I'm also worried at the possibility of keeping a map like this within the limits of the engine.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    Yea the clipnodes's limit will be reached for sure...(but it can be resolved with the clip brushes..so i wasnt too worried about it).
    As for the planes, well maybe yes, maybe no :p (with ns_agora i was like at 70% of the planes limit, so i've decided to put much more details for ns-leïa as it's a much more smaller map).

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->What is the source of the textures for this<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    2 or 3 textures are From Aliens4 (the movie), i've made theses textures myself so they are "exclusive" ;) (but, well there is maybe a copyright problem with them.. if you finish the map, you'd better ask the dev Team to know how Relic25 has been able to use texture from Alien 1).
    I've inlcuded a TXT in the Zip to explain where are the textures from.

    Well good luck if you are planning to Rework on this map :)

    And for Naigel, yes that's what i was trying to explain (and getting a bit confused), but well it's too late now as the link is already posted ;)

    A few more things, the silver pipe texture isn't loading for me. What wad is it in?

    Would you be interested in leading a project to finish this, or would you rather somebody else just pick it up?

    Do you have higher res versions of your textures that could be adapted if we wanted to port this to source?

    Also, you probably ought to just not mention the inspiration for the textures. I think copyright might allow sampling of sections that small, but it's a shady fair use area and will come down to precedents if it ever gets that far. You'd be better off just not stating it explicitly. The suits won't know any better, and the creative people will consider it a tribute.

    finish it.

    no matter what.

    thats an order.

    seriously, this map looks to amazing to just "waste" it. a lot of people had to change areas of their maps completely to improve gameplay. some people (including myself) even spend months to get the best possible result, had been annoyed by a never ending list of errors, cursed the hl engine limitations...

    nobody said it would be easy <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Give it to me, I'm 100% reliable, never said i'll do something and not done it.

    On a more serious note though, i feel this map suffers from mineshaft syndrome and whilst very, very pretty would need a large change to make gameplay less... hindersome and that may very well mean deleting the visual details that make the map stand out. Very good addition to any portfolio though. Worth finishing to make official? The map would need gutting unfortunately, is there any mapper out there willing to do that? I should hope not.

    I just went and ran around it a bit. Before I had only looked at the source.

    Ye Gods man, its awesome.

    I don't know how much the architecture really lends itself to ns's gameplay, but holy hell, you should do this professionally. I think with the current reliance of the game on fades, people are going to get frustrated with it, because it isn't easy to blink around.

    This map makes me almost embarassed to have released ns_shiva publically.
    (Granted, its my first map, but still.)

    I'd take this up, but I'm so burned out on mapping from working on ns_shiva constantly for like the last month in every bit of my free time . . .
    That's compiling now. If every thing is ok tomorrow, I'm going to release it and go flipping swimming.
