Yes, LCDs also don't strain the eyes because it's digitally based instead of fluxing like an analog signal.

It doesn't matter how high your refresh rate is on your CRT, if you stare at it long enough, your eyes WILL be strained.

Seriously, guys, Hyundai L90D+. Best cost/performance panel out on the market.

I stare at a CRT for like 14 hours near constantly, every day of the week. My eyes don't ever seem to hurt.

I guess I"m just used to it. :P

I agree with DOOM - CRTs have never given me eyestrain...

Anyway, I still think CRTs are better:

1) They are cheaper
2) Higher resolutions
3) Better refresh rates
4) Larger screen size

Not to say they are perfect, but still better than LCDs for now.

Get one of each, then set up a dual display.

They have for me, when I haven't calibrated them properly. I bolded the latter portion of the last sentence to make a point: people who have problems with CRT monitors are using them improperly, or don't have them calibrated.

Yes, there are exceptions.

My guess is all these nubs run their monitors at 60Hz.

I stare at my 1024x768x85Hz monitor 10+ hours each day and I don't have any ill effects.

I myself am thinking of upgrading my computer in the monitor department. I already have a 17 inch CRT and I was thinking of getting a nice 19 or 21 inch one. Or a 19inch LCD.

Some people get eyestrain regardless of calibration though. They're really just exceptions though.

Most of the time people leave their CRTs at 60Hz, which is bad I tell you! Bad!!

Myself? I use a CRT. Only problem is that it really heats up the room badly. Throw in the fact that it's been really hot (34C) lately means that my room gets really, really hot.

Odd. I use two CRTs and the room doesn't seem to heat up that much at all.

That must be it. I've got one thats a Dell and another thats made by Compaq, and those seem to be decent brands. They don't even feel that warm on top.
