Law & Order Vs Csi

so which is the better crime series...
I'd vote CSI just because the way the crimes are solved are more believable and more systematic.

Before CSI came, I loved Law & Order. But after watching CSI and then watching Law & Order (LO), the LO detectives work sooo dumb and disorderly at times. And then at the courts, they have RE-investigate the case again.

CSI on the other hand they got so much evidence, heck I think there isnt any need to even waste the court's time.

    CSI hands down.

I would rather watch NCIS though.

I liked CSI in the first few seasons. Now it's gotten silly. It's one show of many that should have stopped in an earlier season, while it was still good.
Of all Law and Orders, I only like Law and Order: SVU; and even then, only in small doses. The hag they have for a detective is obnoxious, and Stapler's (I know, I know) constant family issues is tiring.
NCIS is horrid. I can't stand anyone on that show.

Both CSI and SVU have an overbearing tendancy to make most young girl rape cases a personal issue with the hag of the show (both Stole and Benson). It gets to the point that they no longer seem to be a character taking something to heart, but rather a plot device for the writers to use preach a message. The characters end up fake, and most often annoying. Whenever I see (and I rarely watch either these days) an episode start with a dead, raped young woman/girl, I groan inwardly: I know it's going to be one of those episodes.

    1. CSI (Seasons 1-3)
    2. SVU (Occassionally)
    -9 (rep. 9). NCIS (Never)

CSI is absolutely terrible. All these new detective shows focus on only foresic evidence and completely disregard the real detective work involved (talking to witnesses, unraveling a case, etc.). Additionally, Law & Order is the only show where they actually show the cases being taken to trial. For me, the building of the case is only the prelude to the real drama in the courtroom.

And yes, sometimes they lose - since when did every criminal case in this country end in conviction? Many of the best episodes in the series showcase an unconventional or blatantly false but well-funded defence fooling a jury. To be honest, I don't see how the win-loss record of the characters has anything to do with the quality of the show.

I only really watch the original Law & Order. I'll watch SVU if it's on, but the knock-offs just aren't as good.

Law and Order by far. CSI is good... but it's too fake and well... fake! Law and Order just feels more real and possible. I think i can find a VG cats comic to go with my opinion....

    Bah, CSI...realistic?

You're going to make my sides break open and then they'll fall out. And then the CSI guys will come in and find a pencil shaving and a tooth (when they study the crime scene for the 6th time) and conclude that a cat with ADD threw a knife at me and it knocked me out forcing a rampant carniverous rodent to tear through my abdomen...case solved.

...It might be fun to watch and all, but I've seen so many falsely scientific things on that show I've just watched it for the psuedo-mystery parts.

Law and Order is okay is. I liked it when the guy with bushy eyebrows (Brisco? The alcoholic one...) was one of the detective people. It's got a nice flow too it, and has a more absolute, less Judge Dredd-y feel to it.

[The thing you need to remember about both shows, though, is that they both cut out the "We talked to 57 people, but we got no new evidence." stuff. As it would get really boring and really long, really quick.

-"Have you seen this person before?" "I don't think so..."
-"Have you seen this girl before" "Nope."
-"Did you ever see this girl?" "Maybe....Nope...No, never; looks kinda like my niece though...Except she has black hair and the nose is a bit wider...and the eyes are-" "That's enough, sir."
-"Do you recognize this person?" "Can't say I do."
-"Does the person in this picture look familiar?" "No one I've seen."
    -"Ever see her before?" "No."

I would think it "PWNZ" Law and Order because it has quicker scene changes and a more action oriented "SOLVE CRIME NOW!" thing going on (with the little bullets going into chests or blood dripping on [blank] stuff along with lots of varied lighting and exciting noises and such...which appeals to the entire Ridalin-high generation of people watching TV today...

I find old people usually like Law and Order more, though. Stop breaking the mold Depot...you'll get picked up by the sweepers and turned into Soylent Green (Like poor ol' Saul - but first you must discover that Microsoft makes its operating systems out of PEOPLE!)!

Having a flashlight focuses the vision more than a room light would. It encourages concentration.

I agree CSI is pretty unrealistic. It's entertaining as a "whodunit", but very unrealistic on how the justice system works. For one thing, the shortening of time for tests. Often DNA tests can take weeks, whereas they're done in-house within a day or two. And as someone else mentioned, the CSI team often misses things until they've visited the site days later, after sweeping the room repeatedly.

It's a little humorous to see how each show portrays the other. In CSI, most regular cops are rather bumbling, and are there only as mindless "grunts". Law and Order SVU portrays the detectives as the brainiacs, and places the CSI team as secondary. Which, I suppose is more accurate. The CSI team doesn't often solve cases exclusively: there are interviews, court cases, and other things not involved with the crime scene that are required and not conducted by the CSI staff.

Still, I prefer CSI for the mystery "whodunit" aspect, although only for the first few seasons. Once the characters started moving around in their roles I began to lose interest.

I like both of them ok, but I prefer Law and Order (the original or SVU. I haven't watched Criminal Intent or Trial by Jury much). CSI is a little too 'sexy' for me. The main detective (Grissom, is that his name?) seems way way way too omniperceptive, and after a bit the show seems like a pulped-up Scooby Doo.

Although, I do like it for the technology, and the fancy things they do to solve crimes, despite some flaws as someone pointed out earlier. All things considered, though, I prefer Law and Order.

To me the king of all detective shows is Homicide: Life on the Streets. That show had brilliant writing, superb acting and an impeccable taste in music. It didn't focus so much on the crimes themselves but on the detectives and how their work affects them. Bloody brilliant. Wish I could get the DVD set, you never see homicide on reruns anymore :/
