<div class="IPBDescription">yeah, almost a year later.. whatever.</div> I figured a more ceremonious release would be better then hiding it on the 5th page of an unrelated thread so.. here we go.

I made this model right at the end of my NS modelling tenure, But it was mostly finished. I even posted a WIP thread, and then never posted the actual model. smooth.
I realize I turned into a gargantuan **** right there at the end. Sorry about that.

the model is animated and everything, But needs P, W and heavy models. I would do it myself but I am no longer capable of outputting to HL formats. If anyone wants to reanimate it feel free, cause my animations were like 12 second placeholders.

    Hmm, should I correctly mirror it or incorrectly mirror it, remove the ejection shell, and animate the shell ejection/load into the gun?

    *edit* oh nvm i got an idea that will suit this well.

    *edit2* well that wont work too well, damn you text-on-skin-that-goes-backwards-when-mirroring!!! damn you!!!

    Hot stuff as always brig. Good to see you back, even if only for a while. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Sorry, I dont like to half-**** things, I skin both sides of my models even if youll never see it...
  • DrfuzzyDrfuzzy FEW... MORE.... INCHES... Join Date: 2003-09-21 Member: 21094Members
    Yea I like how you do all the detail, its nice. Isint your fault really that it does that, just a annoying side effect of mirroring models. Maybe mirroring the text on the side you wont see in future models would be a cool idea, that way you can flip the model if need be and the text wont be backwards on the side you see. Hehe i'm even animating the little pin for the strap so it schwings, these animations will take forever ^_^

    It's awsome, I love it, but somethings bothering me. On the shot, he brings it up practically so high that the stock could be on his head. Would it be possible to shorten it? I don't know, I have no military experience so I'm just going off of instict practically. Great job on the model. Just needs new origins and fire anims.

    Hey, welcome back, Brig. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    That thing looks like it uses larger-than-twelve-guage shells! Lethal.

    do the rings for the sling move while using the gun? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    the handle looks kinda small compared to the front part ofthe weapon. any ingame shots to prove me wrong?
  • Wolf_KahlerWolf_Kahler Join Date: 2002-11-29 Member: 10252Members
    The front end is quite large, but that may be because it's not technically a shotgun in the classical sense... I'm sure Brig can explain. I'm only going from observation. I only suspect there's something different besides an engorged guage.

    I guess you cant really tell from the render, But if you look on the gun, It says "10 gauge", so, Its gotta be pretty beefy for that, Hence the handle looking too small.. Its actually supposed to be the other way around, The Handle is supposed to be normal size, the rest of the gun though is gratuitously large.

    As for your animations Fuzzy, I like em alot. 2 suggestions for the firing animation though that will only take about 2 seconds are as follows.
    Make the barrel of the shotgun jump immediately on firing, Right now It has this smooth sliding motion that kinda reminds me of the "Quarter circle backward" movement, This would be fine were we trying to perform a hurricane kick, But.. yeah.. heh.

    Secondly, Give the cocking portion of the animation more "Heft", Like its a bit hard to move the pump. This is an easy one to acheive, Just give it about 2 or 3 frames before the pump moves back a foward motion, So, The Gun moves foward a bit, then moves back.

    Only other thing I can think of.. Is maybe have the gun pointing more upwards during the reload. Thats just a personal thing, cause Ive always found it nearly impossible to load a shotgun while holding it straight foward. gravity doesnt agree with it.. But I do have short fingers. BTW, I love the right handed reload. Friggin. Sweet.

    Yea I might redo the fire animation, i'm not too thrilled with it either. Their just really really hard to do for the shotgun since you have the pump action <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I can reload a shotgun like that, you place the stock firmly on your left sholder or your hip to lock it in place and use your left hand to hold it up.

    *edit* Oh yea, about the pins. I didnt animate them like I intended because I didnt use 'animate selected joints only' all the way through the animations like I did with the mac 10

    *edit again* New fire animation and origins done. I redone the timing on some of the animations so they line up with the games shotgun times better also. <a href='http://www.hosting.nsagames.com/drfuzzy/ns/models/r12a/r12afireanimredux.rar' target='_blank'><img src='http://drfuzzy.nsarmslab.com/pic/download.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' /></a>

    doesn't include original model... has a fire sound that came with another of Brig's models, i personally prefer it over Fuzzy's <3.

    Updated newest animations with peewees and a extra fire sound for anyone who didnt like the sudden bang of the other one.

    Also, mind if I release a <a href='http://www.hosting.nsagames.com/drfuzzy/ns/models/r12a/modded.jpg' target='_blank'>assault version</a> brig?

    If you want to change the hands, I made a tutorial that goes tells you how to add heavy arms to a model that should work just the same.

    No clue where its at, I tried searching <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    You should be able to just import the hands and position them over the old ones, the bones should be named the same so there should be no conflicts. But I dont know if obst made his own bone rig.

    that actually reminds me of the original concept, which had no stock, just a strap ring. (I still actually have the model).

    I cant say Im a big fan of the enlarged barrel shourd, It just makes it too boxy considering how the whole receiver is a square more or less and it covers the barrel and magazine which were the only rounded areas.. But if you wanna release it, then sure, go ahead.

    On a side note, what do you use to draw your concepts with brig? Freehand or ruler or drafting table or what? They always look so clean ^_^
