Using Ns Without Hl In Steam

<div class="IPBDescription">tech support</div> i bought HL used and the cd-key is invalid when i try to put it into steam. i already know how to get them to transfer the cd-key to my steam account so i can use it. i was wondering if there is a way that i can play NS without having HL registered in steam. thanks.

    You need a unique Half Life CD key. You say you bought a used copy of Half Life, the previous owner may have already registered the CD key. But if you have transfered the key over than thats good.

    You need to have Half Life installed in steam in order to run NS.

    so u can instal NS if u have HL2!?!?!?! I thought it was just with HL1 or CS CZ.

    no, u need to have HL1 installed apparently, although having said that i didnt install NS but i installed HL2 and steam and NS worked :S it could be cos i installed HL1 on my old machine and then it registered that i already had it installed once - hwat ever who knows
