That doesn't help us understand the thought processes behind your choice to highlight it. I think winamp is a really cool player, for example.

On another note, iTunes' player seems like an after thought to me. As though apple said, "Aha, now we have a proprietary format that we can put our songs in and reign over like a steel hawk! They will never be able to simply download these songs and make copies without first burning an audio cd and subsequently ripping it! HA!. But how will they be able to play the songs? We hadn't thought of that! QUICK! Code one in!"

    VLC Media player.
Mostly have all the codecs and stuff.
But i only use VLC Media Player for videos, not music.

    Winamp 5.93 + <a href='http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/13365665/' target='_blank'>this skin</a> ftw!

    I prefer <a href='http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/' target='_blank'>Media Player Classic</a>.

I use it for just about everything. Who cares if it isnt stylish, it spends 99% of the time minimized anyway.

VLC is indeed very good when it comes to codecs. I usually just use WMP for movie files, but VLC is sort of like my back-up media player.

It does tend to freeze your taskbar from time to time, at least for me. But alt tabbing is an easy solution to that.

I find WMplayer to be the most conveniant, and sidekicked with Foxytunes it's just flatout awesome-sauce.

    1) Winamp for everything

    2) Real Alt and QT Alt for those specific formats.

    3) VLC for everything else under the sun. ^_^

I have come to like Gom player quite a bit. My friend had been using it before but I had always used divx player and I have to say I really have become accustomed to Gom player since it comes with all the codecs it needs to play any media file.

It should be noted that the program is in english/korean so don't worry if some characters are unreadable to you hehe

VLC I got to watch fansubs on. It's a great player, but the softsubs for it tend to overlap each other and become unreadable. If you're using it from anything like that, I'd avoid it and find something that displays subs better.

I just happen to like something which fits the rest of the Windows XP look (the classic 2000 look that is) The first time I saw this media player update, I was stunnned. It looked so ugly, just like the standart Windows XP interface, I changed it to the classic look, but it just didn't cut it. So I imedially installed media player classic.

MPC has all the features of the newest media player, but it actually looks exactly the same as Windows media player 6.4. And it's faster when loading files and using fastforward in big video files.

    <a href='http://www.divx-digest.com/software/media_player_classic.html' target='_blank'>Media player classic</a>

Lol I just replied, and now I read that MPC already has been posted... Ah well can't press the issue had enough I always say

VLC is the best video player around as far as I'm concerned. It can play anything.

Foobar2000 rocks as an audio player. SOOO much functionality, and really really lightweight. There are a ton of user interface plugins that can make it look as slick as you want.
