New.... Name?

Ugh I hate this
As more and more games come around, developers seem dead set to make players pick "proper" names such as one that starts with a capital letter and is folled but naught but lower case letters after it. To people like me who use the name "Freak83" it's terrible, especially since I consider this my identity.

As long as anything allows me to use Freak83 I won't detour from it but some games like WoW and GuildWars don't allow you to use anything remotely close to names like this.

I have never heard anything I would actually like to use as a substitute so let's see if anyone here can suggest a new (ugh) standard name for me. Only one I will use where I have no other choice.

    @Quantum, one word only
@Crispy, all lower case after the first letter. No numbers at all.

You should be grateful that people didn't call you "83" as your nickname.

Actually there was one guy I used to play with who did. He said it was easier than typing "freak". Was quite different I have to admit.

Nevertheless, you could ask for your name to be changed to that on these forums if you wanted a shorter name.

For me to give you some suggestions you'll have to give me the reasoning behind your name. Was the 83 when you were born? Why the Freak part? Answer me these questions and I'll be able to throw some more suggestions your way...

This goes back a few years, to grade 6 or 7 when it was just standard behaviour to act as crazy and idiotic as possible. Being as uncreative as I was I chose to use the name "Freak" for a Diablo II account. It obviously been taken I put the random numbers (no significance at all) 83 after it. It stuck, and I've just used it since for years.

Yeah, entering into university now and I try not to refer to myself as a "freak" these days anymore. The name is just a name mind you, doesn't really reflect me anymore anyway.

    EDIT:

I have no idea how you guys got your names, from hobbies? Personal experiences? If it's out of hobby's what can you make out of NS, drumming, golf, and skiing that actually sounds good? =/

(that's just suggestions btw, don't actually have to base anything on any of those factors)

    Latins always good...

    Casus for death.

    Anima for soul.

    Inimicus for personal enemy.

    Adversus for opposite.

Just say random crap out loud until you hear something that sounds good. Preferably 2-4 syllables and isn't in a dictionary.

I'd suggest going for a name that reflects a side of your personality. Maybe you have a film you love with a character who reminds you of yourself, maybe a band or even a song that fits in personally somehow. If it's taken try spelling it backwards (if it sounds good) or re-arranging the letters.

Crispy's a nick-name I got from Uni, it's a cooler version of the third forename my parents christened me with...

Nah that's really a bad idea. Relating something other than Geminosity to her name gets her pretty **** off, trust me I know.

Once upon a time Google-whacked her name so that when you searched 'Geminosity' it came up with something other than her Forum posts and the like. She was none too pleased.

my original "Internet name" was Mad Hatter. Soon I learned of games with many users. Mad Hatter was no longer unique. I switched to MadHat001.
Then I went to college, and I needed a way to make myself easy to identify. So I picked my Residence Hall/clan followed by my name.

Don't force yourself to stick with a "Internet Name." My current one is either Naked Dave, or Naked German--nicknames I earned from real life.

Personally I'd petition for your right to go by the name you choose. If that's unacceptable choose a name like "Fluffy Bunny" or something equally moronic. It's just a game, after all.

You do realize that the restrictions on a name in these games are meant to make a more immersive name so you don't have people called like... "Vegeta3422133" or something, and people instead have to actually come up with a first and last name to be referred to by.

It's kind of annoying because you can't use your standard name, but I think it makes a much nicer universe.

/agree with Psyke. Try thinking about some event in your life, some nickname or something. That's what my name comes from, nicknames that a family friend gave to me and my little brother once.
