Pistol Better Than Lmg

Give it a shot
I just discovered a new way of playing as a light marine.

I find that I am much more effective using my pistol first, and then switching to a LMG. If a skulk is heading towards you fire off several quick bursts, and you'll quickly kill it. Plus, you then have a fully loaded LMG for any other skulks that may be around.

From now on I run around with my pistol drawn, not LMG.

If you are good at tracking with the LMG, LMG beats pistol anyday. It's all in your aim.

    LMG maximum damage *500

    Pistol maximum damage *200

If I see skulkers at a really long range i usually draw the pistol first, since it's practically useless up close. If the Kharaa is closer I use my LMG

LMH is however IMHO better, since it deal more damage

In my personal opinion, shotgun is better.

But if i had to use them ild use the pistol if they are hiding and dont think youve seen them, since 10 bulletes = dead.

Close range = LMG or if they see you it = LMG.

No matter how good your aim is, the LMG is worthless at more than medium distance.

I just killed a fade with the pistol, long distance.

In order to do max damage with LMG, you have to be right up to them, so it's not as good as it seems.

I realized last night that the Shotgun is the best! IMO, of course.

I killed like 10 kharaa in a matter of only 5 minutes, including fades, AND an onos!

Also, tomten, LMG does 10 damage initially, the pistol does 20.

Tomten gave maximum damage per clip.

I run around with my pistol out sometimes too. I love it; it's super-accurate and you can fire off all its rounds really fast (really helpful when you want to nail that Fade trying to run back to his D Chamber around the corner!). However, I realize that this is very dangerous sometimes. For example, if a Skulk *somehow* gets up close and decides to run laps around you or something you have to be extremely good at being able to track and lead him with your crosshair, or you could risk taking the time to bring your LMG out. But I guess this is all common sense anyway

    I know. 20 x 3 = 90

This means you should be able to take out a skulk in three pistol shots even if they have level 2 carapace.

With level 3 carapace it would take 4 shots.

    10 x 8 = 80

It would take 10 shots with an lmg to kill a skulk with no carapace upgrade and 12 with level 3 carapace.

The only thing though is, at close range when the skulk is jumping around wildly, it would be extremely hard to hit the skulk 3 times with a pistol. You would have to rely on luck. You would have much more luck at clsoe range with lmg. If you know where a skulk is hiding the pistol is a better choice.

    1. Um...20x3=60.
    2. That's how it's supposed to work, but supposedly there's an armor bug for aliens which greatly increases the damage that can be taken.

    Then we agree here.

LMG at long range isn't useless at all, the shots are fairly accurate, even at long range. I've meet players that killed me VERY fast with LMG at long range, and i've killed skulks at long range with LMG several times aswell. LMG is also great for suicide rushes. I tend to go "rambo" alot on larger public server (8+ players) and I always inform my commander of this. I usually take out several resource towers and offense/defense chambers and keep a throng of skulks busy chasing me around the map

Personally, I prefer the Pistol for high damage and an easily controlled rate of fire. But the LMG is very useful if you know what you're doing. I tend to keep with short bursts because the muzzle flash is a bit dazzling after awhile. Conserves ammunition for my relatively small clip compared to the Heavy Machine Gun and allows me to reascertain my target. Every weapon has an effective use.

btw, when aiming, always keep your eyes focused on the crosshair, it's easy to loose your aim if you try and focus on the whole screen. I might seem like a trivial thing, but this is a misstake i usually do, atleast for me, it's much harder to aim when i'm not focusing my eyes on the crosshair.

Nope. Armor absorbs damage, and carap also absorbs damage. So killing a skulk takes 10,14,17,20 hits with an LMG depending on carap level.

Yea, to kill a lvl 3 carap skulk you need to hit with every shot in that pistol clip.

Hint: make sure your commander upgrades your weapons. It will save your life.

And don't go rambo with expensive guns unless your team has insane (500+ with less than 10 players) resources. Or at least high (200+)
