What has asylum seeker numbers got to do with the olympics?

    on-topic... why is everyone feeling sorry for Paris, we've waited for this since 1948 <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I think Stratford is where alot of illegal immigrants and asylum seekers are 'hanging out' at the moment.

Edit: Forgot to post the point.

Would you honestly like to go to an Olympic games where the country has an immigration problem?

Hm seen as Maus is ridiculing our glorious Olympic camp may I remind people the London sports village is the first of it's kind which has been planned and will be developed in co-ordination with alot of Olympic medalists and athletes. Can any other country boast that? Nooooooo.

PS: Just to add on why didn't the New York bid take off? I thought America was the most important country in the world blah blah. I thought they'd want us all to choke on the big apple smog.

America isn't very popular at the moment, thats probably why the bid didn't take off <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Maus wins. I'm sure glad I'm not going to be in London in the year 2010 (with any luck). The transit system's already bursting at the seams, and I doubt it's going to get any better. And instead of the pouring the billions into advertising for the bid, they could have put that into the reinvigoration/renovation benefits they hope the olypmics will bring. Hurrah.

The transport system has to improve, or the Olympics won't really be possible there.

From what I gather, the "solution" is to close off roads so that athletes can get where they need to in time.

The website <a href='http://www.london2012.org/' target='_blank'>http://www.london2012.org/</a> is currently returning a "service unavailable" when I attempt to visit it. I find this to be an amusing portent for the future.

This all likely has something to do with the french president's comment about how bad britain's food was. it apparantly got caught on tape and him and the russian president said a few things.... unpleasant about britain and finland.

It's againts the olympic rules to comment on another countries bid, and well, generally frowned upon to insult them. so.... the olympic members probably swiftly changed their minds a day before they made the decision.

    gfg france.

God... I almost cried when I saw this. I'm generally not a violent person but I had to punch a wall.

    We'll never get the games...

Thank god, I was really hoping America wouldn't win the bid, too bad you Brits had to get the burden this time around though.

I would have let France take it, less and less people care about the Olympics every year and less and less profit is to be made from hosting them.

So...uh...have fun with your massive infrastructure problem.

Besides as has already been mentioned the world will be in the throws of Armageddon during the 2012 Olympics. Should have let the French have it...that would have been irony at its finest.
