Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. Includes a good multiplayer community, despite usual lamers. And can be yours for a tenner. Only game to include proper saber on saber mp fighting, without the need for silly guns and whatever.
Blockland. Multiplayer game for free, based around the idea you build Lego bricks online. A peaceful alternative to fighting. Very hard to get the latest version, heres it is: Blockland
Bar that, just get WOW and join the rest of the world. And stay the hell away from Guild Wars. Just don't waste 30 quid like I did on it.
I think we are all forgetting System Shock 2! a Deus Ex style FPS/RPG hybrid set on a star ship 6 months from earth infested with aliens and phycotic AIs.
Then there is Fallout (1&2) a Post Nuclear War Role Playing Game, does everything it says on the box!

Hello CWAG,trust you to start a flame off. Sadly though,I shall ignore your attempt and respond as thus. (because that was a brief answer)
Guild Wars is very different to WOW and the rest. (I bought it,therefore I am a paying customer. Suite plays game. Suite comments on game. Ok.) However,I feel that compared to other games I have seen, played and enjoyed,GW seems rather rough and not quite good enough in short. The controls are awkward to get used to,and seem very incoherent compared to any other game like GW (GW isn't claiming to be a MMORPG) with a good control system. Also, the party-system of the outside world takes away the feeling of a wider world, and even though you can expand the party groups over time,it seems very isolated and bleak. Even the graphics are jerky. There is the impressive-sounding PVP-mode,but you'll need to unlock the weapons in RPG-mode first. Basically, compared to games like WOW,GW seems very badly made and lacks a bit of depth somewhat.
(P.S- Expecting a flame back CWAG? Sorry,I don't resort to childish games. And btw, just cos I listen to SOAD doesn't mean I'm not entitled to any opinion.)
