<div class="IPBDescription">Need help from the experts</div> I am currently doing a project for my course, and it involves me doing a review on Natural Selection. However, this could be slightly challenging as Natural Selection is not a commerical-based game like Half Life 2 or Halo. I will need all the help I can get.

Publisher - ??
Developer - Flayra and team(I will get information from Unknownworlds)
Genre - Science-fiction and Action
Release Date - How long ago was this?
Platform - PC
Number of players - Internet FPS game with up to 32(??) players

The rest is basically about gameplay, sound, graphics, learning curve, ratings as well as a couple of other stuff.

I give NS a 8/10 rating <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Could someone else proven me with more background information, links, or even show an example of your own slight review? I am not going to copy, I would just like to see what other players feel about NS, as well as extract information.

Thanks a lot!

Max 32 players in one server.

I say its a dynamic mix of rts and first person in a fictional worl swarming with alien life. Its depth and lastibility comes from the many varying lifeforms and upgrades.

release was afaik haloween 2001 when i remember right

and because its not a commercial game which does not get published, there is no publisher

    :edit:

and remember: unknownworlds has not much to do with NS !!!
flayra and cagey are in unknownworlds, but the rest of the team will be new and have nothing to do with the development of ns

so i would draw a line between unknownworldds and ns

I wish i had heard of this game much earlier, instead of last year (2004).

    Here's a <a href='http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_Selection_%28computer_game%29' target='_blank'>link</a> that should be useful.

Don't forget to properly reference the link in your bibliography or you'll get a <span style='color:red'>F</span>ail

Though you could always just cite "Yoink" in your references, then you could copy all you want. It's a little known practice in journal articles that grad students sometimes use.

I personally connect Sci-Fi and Action to be movie genres, at least Action isn't really telling when it comes to games, but Sci-Fi is i suppose, i suggest you change it to "Sci-Fi FPS/RTS".

A few more days before I need to submit.

Any mods or even Flayra himself could come in and provide some notes for me? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Thanks!

The genre Flayra originally wedged NS into was dubbed RTSSFPS (Real Time Strategy - Social - First Person Shooter), emphasizing the two mother genres and the fact that the emphasis on teamwork and atmosphere were supposed (and I hope succeeded) to create social, shared, experiences.

Release date was, as was said, indeed Halloween 2002. Around 20:00 EST, if I recall correctly.

We're self-published, and I doubt anyone would look at you grudingly if you called the developer Unknown Worlds Entertainment, though a link to the team page would probably the most accurate.

lol, a lotta inaccurate stuff on there. I should fix it. Also, I like the whole "pimping" of Voogru at the end. Maybe I should put SNipermarine in there as well.

That could be just as an inaccurate comment to make unless you tell us what's inaccurate about it.

I already fixed it. Just re-read it, I updated a lot of stuff. From the area on how the knife was "overpowered", I also added the damage values, and changed some weapon descriptions as well. Edited some gramatical mistakes and clarified a few upgrade chamber parts.

Left in the voogru part at the end for hilarity.

It would be better to say that the knife had previous problems which have been fixed (knockback), but nevertheless an update was definitely in need.
